Katie, you need to persuade your DH  that the speckles need to live in your bottom drawer at work, to be taken on a medicinal basis. To be taken orally,  as needed (on days like today)

Oh yum love freckles :))

Katie how terrible... How pathetic to quit via text.. And the stupid thing is that these type of people are getting interviews and jobs yet others dont even get a look in..good luck in finding someone else.. Pity your in the wrong city .. Id be there in a jif lol

Today cleaned one bathroom, kitchen, some ironing, baked some muffins and dinner.. Attempted to get some boxes down from a hallway cupboard.. Decided against it as knew box would end up on head lol.. Too heavy so left for dh.. Slowly does it.. In the city tomorrow then leave early wednesday to pick up the kidlets...

Katie,
Amazing but believable.  She will probably come and ask for a reference.
Have another Freckle!  Looking forward to meeting you and doing the haig tour!

Katie, I am appalled too, no respect at all. I always remeber being nervous about resigning from a job, but its part of life.

Do you legally have to pay her, I woudnt want to either.

Actually Katie I would respond - thank you for your text message, as stipulated in your signed contract I look forward to receiving your written notice of resignation.  Your contract also stipulates that you need to work out the two weeks notice, can you please let me know if we can expect this or if you are choosing to breach your contract?  Regards Katie

If no one ever spells out to these young ones what is LEGALLY expect of them then they will continue to act this way.  You don't need to be rude or condescending but there is nothing wrong with highlighting their obligations under the contract.

Far out, Katie. Bad attitude and lack of common courtesy is a disease that plagues Malaysia's young too. I've had staff who quit (albeit not through text msg) without a word/discussion. Then there was this other girl who sulked for months. Not a word of thank you or a smile even after I justified for her to attend a performance by Stomp! Stupid me for trying to motivate her.Hmmph!!

Katie that is so bad.
We have a policy at work.... no texting at all.

I have provided staff with mobiles phones, that I pay for,  Ring me.... :)  They do..

That is another reason we won't ever employ another young person... Love the older staff we have now, both fantastic..
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

Thanks everyone! Better today, busy reading job applications.

I have no probs with the girl resigning, if she isn't suited for the job or for any reason  - but how you handle these types of situations is a measure of your character. Texting 15 minutes before you should be at work, not giving notice etc is just shabby. I will write to her though and we will pay her for last week (just easier) and fingers crossed the next one is better.

We've had some lovely young girls work here, with great attitudes so I don't think all kids are the same.

I agree Katie as there are lots of lovely, capable hardworking young men and women out there.
We owe it to the young ones to give them opportunities in the workplace.
Our staff of 85-90 are of mixed aged groups and most of them have given us no complaints over the years.
