JD after a while you acclimatise. We lived in Port Hedland for a while and you get used to it. Often you are only out in the heat to get from your conditioned house into your air conditioned car and the to your are conditioned work.

If you get used to it DD, it appears you can't live without your air conditioner I lived in Darwin for 2 years around 40 years ago and hated every minute of it unless it was pouring with rain. When it stopped though, that was a different matter - muggy & sticky. The rain was at least cooling whilst it was coming down. I can't remember how often during the day I used to hop under a cold shower. I could well understand why they paid you extra to live in places like that - I wonder if they still do.
