I love chooks. Sadly we can't keep any here. I would love to sit and watch TV with a chook in my lap. It's very relaxing. For some weird reason Mum used to make us take them back to the chook yard.  ???

I love chooks too. We had chooks, ducks and geese on the farm where I grew up. If (when) I move back to the country I will get some geese as I like them too despite their bad attitude. The only turkeys around the place were the scrub/bush turkeys that destroyed the garden regularly much to my mother's disgust.

Hopefully the girls will start laying soon although judging by their combs it could be a little while yet.

Nothing like chooks is there? We don't name ours unless they really deserve it. The chook that survived the recent snake bite is called "Snakebite" (obviously!) or "Snox" as now she won't go into the chook yard at night. We figure she's scared to be bitten again so won't go in, but she may get taken by a fox - so she's got a mixture of snake and fox...Snox!

Nothing quite like chook poo squishing through your toes when you step out onto the verandah in the dark either!  :o Ours love leaving chook bombs for us!

We have an outside loo (and no-one shuts the door - it drives me nuts!) and yesterday hubby went flying around the corner in a hurry, dropped his daks, about to sit and there's a chook in the dunny! He had to haul her out before he could sit. By the skid marks she left it looks like she had perched on the seat for the night but then slipped and fell in and couldn't get out.  So she spent part of the night a tad waterlogged!

Cookie - we weren't allowed chooks in the house, but our chookyard on the farm was about 2 acres of low scrubby tea-tree bush, so my brother and I spent hours and hours out there making cubby's, cutting tunnels through the bush, being the intrepid explorers that we were we'd find skeletons of chooks and foxes and rabbits and when we got a bit older, we buried the smokes we'd pilfered from the shearers and smoked them out there.   ;D

We weren't really allowed chooks in the house either. I have to agree with the chook poo squishing through your toes. It has a unique feel.
Your poor chook falling in.  ;D ;D your poor DH having to rescue her.  ;D ;D

I hope Snox survives.

I love your stories Nikkit  :D :D :D
Poor chookie in the outhouse. What a traumatic experience.
Poor Snox. Hope her guardian angel keeps up the good work.

This is Sporty living up to her name racing around the chookhouse.

I really didn't feel like seeing anyone last night after a full on week at work. But sister insisted on seeing me in my birthday. Josh and I are two days apart. She bought us a beautiful handmade cardboard bag containing pj shorts for each of us, a bottle of strawberry champagne, chocolate and two movie vouchers. Complete with babysitting of course. It put a smile on the night. :) Oh and we enjoyed ILB cake that I made for DH. DH made me Mango daiquiris and gave me a new kindle. I also got breakfast cooked for me. :)

You were not in my birthday book INAID but belated birthday wishes for yesterday. The visit from your sister was really nice and what lovely gifts she gave you and your DH - love that babysitting was thrown in so that you could have a night out.
