It was an unexpected visit (DH, will go for a rugby game - flights to Christchurch are cheap due to the rock and rolling)
His DD 83 is in poor health and needs some sorting out. He will be home in about an hour.

Yep, we aren't young Amy. DH is 53, the youngest of three sons, there is a 5yr gap between him and the next brother up. Which makes his dad only 30 yrs when he had DH. I'm 52yrs old Ames.

I'm so sorry DFM, I thought you meant DH had a "dear daughter" who was 83

And don't be silly, of course you are young. 52 is nothing. A number. It has no definition in the dictionary that says "old"

I noticed a quote in the West Australian Weekend Magazine that is relevant to this talk of aging.

Elle McPherson said that her eysight started failing at the same time as the elasticity of her skin declined so that she looks the same to herself when she looks in a mirror. I think this may be nature way of sparing us from some of the angst of aging.

I saw that DD and thought how very kind of mother nature, but then it is a nasty shock when you see yourself with your glasses on.


A friend once said to me ; that we only age on the outside and the inside is only as old as we feel.
He was not speaking biologically, purely on feelings and appearance. That is why some days I am 24 and others 104.

I am very happy that my personal trainer is an ex-AFL player, because it means he is big, strong, has quick reflexes, and was able to get me off the treadmill pretty quick when I tripped on it this morning. So I still have knees
