Had you already done a bar course Amy or did your current employer teach you the ropes.

I haven't done any bar work before Judy, so tonight was a completely new learning experience ;D It was very busy so I actually spent most of the time polishing glasses :-)) ;D I will need to do my RSA soon too.

Suzanne, not really ;D ;D ;D

Yay Amy, first shift is always the hardest, it'll get easier every day now.

I remember my first shift as a bar wench many years ago up on Thursday Island in the Torres Straits. It was...interesting...to say the least! Imagine 4 deep at the bar, all big burly black frizzy haired islander men, all shouting at you in Pigeon English, all there as there was 'fresh meat' in the pub.  :o :o :o
I learned a heck of a lot that first night, how to be nice, how not to be nice, how to get back to 'my side' of the bar after I had been dragged over to 'their side' of the bar (with sanity and clothing still intact) how to fight to protect myself. (always have 2 litre bottle of bundy rum handy - it helps!)
"Bar Wench 101" all in a matter of hours!  ;D
I earned a lot of respect from a lot of men that first night - made many many friends and had many eyes looking out for me when I was out alone.

I sincerely hope you don't have anything like that Amy!

Nikkit - what a great story! - had DS read this one . .   ;D ;D

Amy . . top priority to get your RSA asap! Most places wouldn't even put you behind the bar without it . . .( . .or would they!?!? :o)  It's certainly a high end requirement in the east . . .

If you can do it online, do try to do it over the weekend!  It shouldn't take too long . . .

Hee hee "rowdy" wasn't the word that came to mind Amy! And to think there was another pub up there that was worse!

It certainly was an experience I can tell you! I survived it up there, although did catch dengue fever (not pleasant) , and a husband (not an islander! - very pleasant) and I did have a few different jobs, the pub one lasted only 6 weeks, there's only so much abuse one can handle!

Haven't been very happy the last couple of weeks lots of things going on here atm.
But things are on the up and DH and I have booked a holiday to Vietnam and Cambodia in September for 3 weeks,  something good to look forward too. So I am happy about that but.....
DH did mention that I might have to miss out on going to SA in August but we will see, how things turn out, not ruling it out quite yet.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

I really hope you can make it to SA Jenny :-* :-* But Vietnam and Cambodia sound like a pretty good consolation!! :D
I hope you sort out all the "things" so you can be happy again :)
