Well, about a month ago I sought advice about my maltese shitzu which had suddenly taken to treating our family area as her toilet. There is nothing medically wrong with her. Now we are thinking that she may be suffering from separation anxiety from me! Have any of your pets experienced this? How did you manage the situation? Apparently, it is quite a common problem for older dogs.

courton our 14 yr old maltese shitzu suffers separation anxiety but doesn't do as your dog does, ours cries and whimpers constantly whenever I am not in the house or he can't find me,  there can be 5 other people here but it's only me who seems to have this effect on him, pretty sure there is medication that they can take, what did your vet suggest?

and on other dog news we have a new member of the family he is a cavalier x shitzu and his name is Buddy

this was taken yesterday after his first bath :D

Suzanne, your new baby Buddy is just gorgeous !

The medication for separation anxiety is usually clomicalm but you usually need to do some retraining while the medication is being taken.  It's not a wonder drug, it just assists with calming the dog down and stops the dog working itself up to a frenzy.

Thank you so much for your advice Suzanne and Chrissa.  You have been a great help since we are tearing our hair out! Will investigate the medication. Presumably you get it at the vet.

Made this for my birds. They really like it too which is a bonus.

I decided to make another stand and see if I could sell it, well within 30 minutes not only did I sell the one stand I made, I also got 20 orders for more :o
Guess what I'm going to be doing in my spare time :)

That's great dede. They are so good with all the natural bits of timber in them, no wonder people loved them.

Suzanne, Buddy is ever so gorgeous.
