Gee, I thought I'd had another seniors moment!
Judy, I grew up on a farm and in the 50's and 60's it was very hard physical work for Dad, (I still don't know how he managed to carry a full bag of wheat or superphosphate on his shoulders-and do it many, many times in a day). As a result Mum felt he always needed good substantial food so we had sweets every night of the week.  Most of the dishes were simple things like the Brown sugar pudding or fruit sponges, rice pudding or bread and butter pudding. Mum loved cooking and we were never without home baked goodies. The thrill of our life was to have bought jam or biscuits.
I can imagine if Mum was still round she would love a TMX. In fact it would have made her life much easier as she had Parkinson's. I've never thought about it before but the TMX would indeed be wonderful for people with disabilities. Another good reason to have one.
Here I cease the reminicsing.(sorry can't spell it)

My mum also grew up on a farm on Yorke Peninsula Cookie1, the youngest of 14.  However, she wasn't your typical country cook like most are and apart from rice and bread and butter puddings, she was a dreadful scone maker (so was I until I got the TMX) and never made cakes or cookies either.  Makes you wonder about the weights our grandparents carried when you compare that with today and workplace safety measures which restrict the amount they can lift.  DH was a butcher and used to carry huge weights, of course this became impossible once he got MS and had to retire.  At times I have to physically lift him yet, in hospitals or with the distric nurses, they just stand there and don't know how to go about it as they are not allowed to do lifting.  He is only a little fellow thank goodness and so far my back is holding up.

JD - found the info on the competition for this month.  It is seasonal ingredients.  This was at the bottom of the newsletter thar came out about the new TMX kitchen:

I'm afraid Monthly Mouthful took a back seat in July, so for all you would be recipe developers out there, we're back and interested in your take on seasonal ingredients. Send us your best tested recipe using your favorite seasonal fruit or vegetables and I will test, eliminate and put up the best two recipes for your perusal. The winner by vote off will get the Thermomix recipe book of their choice, so warm up your TM engines and send your recipes to recipes@thermomix.com.au before Friday August 14th.

Thought that it closed next week - I have a number of recipes that I had thought of sending - turnip souffles, sweet potato mash, croissants with beetroot, chocolate and walnut stuffing, banana and marscapone ice-cream, ...

I sent in some, but lots of other ideas - sorry, we need to make sure Tenina has lots of recipes.  Failed her this month.

Anyone with seasonal ingredient recipes please get them to Tenina.

Maybe let us city people know at the beginning of every month what the seasonal produce is so we can reap the harvest and sow the recipes  :D

They ran out of books to give me - still owe me for the chicken chermoula.  I said I'd wait for the new rewrite of the EDC.

What I want is to have other people contribute - coz I was told NOBODY would contribute and why should they bother having a Forum for users?  :-)) :-)) :-)) - yeah, that's partly why I make sure we use this and contribute to Tenina's efforts.

I get a magazine monthly that has a list of seasonal vegies & fruit Karen and would post it but it is too late for this comp. Got the latest edition yesterday which lists Septembers seasonal produce.  I'll give you that if you would like it but it won't be until later tonight.

They have been proven wrong about a forum not being used Thermomixer and they'd probably get more recipes if they posted about competitions on this forum too.

Normally I post about the competition:

Think that I missed this one with all the talk about the opening of the TMX kitchen !!

Think that Tenina was probably pre-occupied with the opening of the kitchen.

Nobody seems to comment on the blog either - we need people to comment even if they are not voting.  All the help we can give to keep Tenina enthusiastic - please.
