Marie, I have finished Sat papers and nearly finished a truly awful book on Kindle. I have read five  chapters of The Vacancy on my iPad but am going to sit in the sun now to finish the truly awful and really get stuck into the Rowlings book on Kindle as I can read it easily in full sun. You cannot do that on the iPad.

What are  doing today?

The Kindle is great for reading outdoors, the sun is out here but there is a very cold wind blowing (off the snow probably) so I have some seville oranges to use up and thinking of making some curd with them. Time for a coffee now  ;D

Where is the snow Marie?  No don't tell me!

You can also read the Kindle in a very low light. That is why they are so good. I love mine so much I have bought 6 of them.

I also have Kindle on my iPad , laptop and PC. If I had a decent phone I would have Kindle on it as well. I never want to be without something to read no matter where I am . So I do read several books at once in various places in the house.  The real problem Amy is that I often forget to take my Kindle into the loo so I really should get another just to,have it there on the wall next to the toilet at all times.

I always  take a kindle to a waiting room at the doctors as you NEVER want to touch ANYTHING  in that place believe me. I never sit in A chair with arms either.

I really need yet another Kindle to keep permanently in my handbag as I learned when I wound up in the emergency unit.  Maybe they should make one to fit in your bra.  maybe one the size of a USB stick that you could just aim at a wall or piece of paper or the palm of your hand so you could always have SOMETHING to read with and on.  I hate wasting reading time.

Sometimes Amy I have to use mental gymnastics to remember just what I am reading where and where was I up to. No flipping back with a Kindle .

Wow Gertie... :o Apart from the lack of kindle in the loo and the handbag, it sounds like you've got it all figured out :D

Hi Gert, from a newbie...
I've been lurking on this forum for a few months and your thread has spurred me to come out and intro myself.
You said you've had more than one of these... I had something similar a few years ago and I'm not saying you have this but it might be worth checking out. I would experience sharp chest pain and it could come on while lying in bed or walking. Given my family history of heart issues, my GP referred me to a heart specialist who tested and found nothing wrong. ( ??? Really? So why was I having chest pains?!) Finally it was my Naturopath who told me I had an infection of the pericardium - the sheath around my heart...hence pericarditis. He added that my doctor could have prescribed an antibiotic for a bacterial infection to knock it out. (It may also be cause by a viral or fungal infection.) I stuck with my Naturopath and all was well.
Hope you find an anwer and/or it doesn't recur!
Cheers,
Jen

Great information JenJan. Welcome to the forum. Glad you've come out of the lurking closet!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Good advice and thank you for coming out Jen Jen to share with us.

In fact that is what I am thinking. I was suffering a virus  for the past few months followed by nasty throat which was deemed needing antibiotics so I was sort of covered all around.  The virus is still sort of hanging. the throat has cleared up so I am putting the pain  to the virus taking over early and attacking my lungs.

Well that is my theory. You know nurses are the worst for diagnosing but still some knowledge helps. Doctors  do not have ALL the  answers. How can they. We should at least investigate alternatives. A good naturopath is a great idea and  so long as they have extensive  and sanctioned  education and knowledge then they are certainly a good way to start. I have known a few personally. Some good and others absolute ratbags.

I think the best thing is for everyone to have a basic knowledge of anatomy. Not hard. A basic picture book of anatomy is a must in every household in my opinion.  Every girl should learn her body parts. A mirror is needed here.  Boys have no problem as they spend their life playing with body parts.

It amazes me when people have no idea where their gallbladder or appendix are.  Or even which way blood flows. Anyway I digress. Don't get me started.

Yup I think I know what the problem may have been and hopefully it won't happen again.

Thanks for your input JenJen.  Much appreciated.

Gert

Hi Gert, I've been away for 4 days and just caught up on this, I'm really glad you are OK.  I was thinking the same as JenJen as I read through the postings, it sounds just like what a girl friend had and hers also was a virus around the heart, she was like you and put in hospital with what she thought was a heart attack.   Keep really well we need you.. :-* :-* :-*
