Thank you. Xx. I can just imagine camel teams turning round in Coolgardie. The street is so wide. It is an amazing town, but is dying, if not dead. Kalgoorlie has a lot of interesting old buildings too. That will have to be another trip.

We are now in SA. We crossed the border this morning and at the moment are about 17km from Penong, which is about 73 km from Ceduna. I'll try to put in some photos and hopefully explain what they are. We gained 21/2 hours in time today! Yesterday we travelled from Norseman to a lovely bush camp east of Madura. It was freezing overnight.  We travelled 523km yesterday. We saw lots of snakes and dead Roos on the road. There are also heaps of trucks, usually road trains.

This is what the landscape is like when you first leave Norseman.
Then it turns into this.

At Madura you come down onto a coastal plain and travel along there with small hills on your left for round 200 or so Km.

Then at Eucla you go back up again off the coastal plain.

This was our first sight of The Great Australian Bight. It is very very beautiful.

This is what it looks like on the actual Nullabor Plain. It means 'no trees' and is SA.

When you come off the Nullabor the trees come back and then it slowly becomes grain country.

Tomorrow we go into Ceduna and have to go through a fruit/Vegie check and can take nothing in. We had steak for dinner with both veggies and salad.
Off now to get a peek at the forum.

We travelled 527km today. Much the same as yesterday. Tomorrow will be about 100km   Will sleep in, especially with this daylight saving.  :)

Welcome to SA.
The weather was shocking today. We actually had snow in the mid north and at Mt Lofty. Brrrr. It's supposed to get better ;D, and then worse. >:( it was beautiful last week, but spring has run away and winter has descended again.
The bite is spectacular - did you see any whales?
I made the kids scoff all the fruit and veggies in the van before we went through the quarantine checkpoints.
We didn't see many snakes on the road - mainly stumpy lizards or wombats on the SA side of the border and Roos on the WA side.
Except for the Roos that jumped out at us when we were off the main highwy

No we didn't go in and see the whales Sue. We also saw a bustard or wild turkey west of Nullabor. I just thought I would add this photo. This is doing it the hard way. We saw 2 different cyclists. I don't know if they are sensible or silly.

Loving this trip from my office, cookie! Makes me feel like I'm there with you!

A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

We saw 2 different cyclists. I don't know if they are sensible or silly.

I would have to say sensible. Just getting around in their preferred mode. Depending on how many times you intend to cross the nullabor in your life, I would tend to opt for aeroplane in most cases.

PS. Your windscreen is very clean - where are the bugs?

I hope the weather warms up for you and you have a wonderful time in South Australia.
