I had this idea... it may be silly, but what do others think?

The taste forum has had a secret Santa for 3 years this year....has been lots of fun & successful.
Thought I would give links to the 2010 & 2011, so you can scroll down the pages and get some present hints.

I  Think the key is to just have fun with it, and it doesn't have to be food orientated....it can just be humorous, personalised to suit the individual, anything you wish to gift that person.  if there is too many suggestions of what we like or don't like, I think it takes the fun out of it, and makes it harder for the gift giver  

Also, keeping yourself Anonymous to the recipient, is half the fun.
If you are putting your name as the sender on package, call yourself Secret Santa, then your address.
if you think you know who your Santa is, keep it quiet and just post your photo or description of gift....it's fun for everyone to guess until its time for all Santas to be revealed.
when everyone has received their gifts, Amy can then adjust the first post on this thead, stating who your Santa was.

I hope you didn't think I was saying a giant list of what you want but some suggestions of like and dislikes so you don't end up with body stuff etc and can't use it because you have dermatitis or an allergy to something in  particular etc this is just how we do it on our mums forum and it works well xx

not at all, I probably appeared a bit blunt in my comment, sorry, didn't mean it to read that way 
Allergies etc. absolutely understandable for listing....I guess what I was trying to suggest is whatever goes....if your recipient won't use/like I'm sure they know someone who will do....it just takes pressure off the buyer "to get it right" iykwim?

Just been looking at some of the posts on the threads Maddy posted - some of those gifts look way, way more expensive than our budget.  I think it's much more interesting if you have a lower budget, it really makes you use your imagination.
