I think by using fresh figs there would be a lot more liquid in the mix. Perhaps try a little bit without the apple.
Hopefully someone will have a better suggestion for you.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

MY 1ST thought was chop them up and strain overnight with a weight on top of the figs, and use the same amount

I made this yesterday and it turned out beautifully.  It made 14 muffin size amounts which is a great size for a cheese platter.  Thankyou GHM - great recipe!!!
