I love my Merle's Kitchen book Judy. DD was giving some lectures last year and she bought it for me as I did the 'catering' for it. Some delicious things in there.

Mich have you got many cookbooks left in your kitchen? You have given away heaps. Have you ever gone to make something and thought "oh, that recipe was in the book I gave away" ?  I think I may need to get rid of my microwave soon so I can make space for more cookbooks. The more I try and not buy them the more I do!

CP, I can't even remember what I have given away, so certainly don't miss them. I have scanned a few recipes out of books that I have given away but only a handful and can't say that I have actually cooked them since then.  :-))

I would like to get my cookbook collection to fit on this one shelf below. At the moment I am quite a long way from the finish line - in other words I still have way too many cookbooks. They do bring me pleasure though and I enjoy a glass of wine and browsing through a cookbook. I remember the 5 hour flight home from W.A. in 2012 went by in snap as I read through your favourites collection that you so generously gave us. I meal planned for 4 weeks on the flight home.  ;D

I received my book from Michele on Saturday morning and had a quick flick through.  Saw this recipe, had all the ingredients and it was quick to make so here's the Oat Slice from Merle's Kitchen.  It cuts better if left to go completely cold and is crisp, crunchy and very much the taste of an Anzac biscuit.  Thanks Michele, I've now had a chance to go right through the book and there are some lovely recipes in there which I would love to make.

Judy, the anzac biscuit recipe in Merle's  book is really nice too.  Has ginger in it  :)

Arrowroot Biscuit Slice page 160
Date Slice page 138
