I have just been informed by miss6...
"it is not my fault if I don't do what I'm told - my brain just doesn't process instructions."   :-)) :-\

That's a classic !!

Today I was talking to the girls about sun-screen and why they needed to put it on, to which miss6 informed me it wasn't summer yet. :-)) ... a few minutes later miss22mths came running up, pointing to her arms and said "look mum, I summer-burnt!!"  Sounded so funny!!  :D

oh, let my kids give them a seasons lesson.  Apparently sunshine = summer even if it's frosty (literally single digit temperatures - fortunately we are getting past those though). It's been a struggle all winter to get clothes on DD(2) - shorts and tshirts year round.

My DS asked when I'm having a baby as I have a "fat tummy". Nice.
Luckily he also says nice things like "mum, you make the best fuzz" (choc fudge)....actually maybe that has somethng to do with the tummy...

LOVE the stair shower Debbie - priceless!

Some of my favourites:
  • The time DS's pet rat departed for a celestial destination. He was only 4 so found an insightful way to express his sorrow: "I'm so sad my heart has got a tummy ache" - still makes me choke up!
  • DS watching DW putting on makeup - "what you doing Mom?" DW-"making myself beautiful" DS-"well it hasn't" :-\ (needless to say he wasn't too popular.
  • DD - the Titanic was sunk by a burger

Many years ago when the kids were tiny, a friend said to keep a notebook handy to write down all these wierd and wonderful things they say because memory soon fades with time. Now the kids are almost grown up (well they think they are) we still enjoy flipping through the pages for a giggle or "aaah".

So now's your chance to do likewise and capture all those moments for posterity in your own memories notebook.

What a lovely keepsake Rogizoja. Wish I had done that when when my children were young.  :)

thanks for the great laughs everyone! Some crackers in there! I am going to take your advice too and keep a notepad handy to write things down on.

Kids do say the funniest things!

Just flipped through the notebook again. Here are a couple more crackers:

* DW had just had her legs waxed - DD "Mama had her legs skinned today"
* DD coming off a slide at a water park "you'll have the time of your life Mama, but hang onto your boobs!"
* DS (aged about 5) "I've got a pouch between my legs to keep my nuts in"  :-))
* DS "I wish I only had half a sister - the kissy half"
* GrannyMO: "Zoe's got a very good vocabulary"; Zoe: "what does that mean?"!!
* DS "the best bit of Christmas is when you wake up and your sack is full" (seems he has a thing about that  ;D)

and on it goes. Have fun making your own memories notebook.

I do have a book I write stuff down in, as I scrapbook the funny little things they do and say - hopefully make a good present for them one day!!!  :D

My mum still tells me about when I was 5 years old and didn't know the national anthem properly... apparently my grade 1 teacher overheard me singing "Australia's full of ostriches" at several school assemblies :-))

Miss6 "we have a new person in our class now, so there are 27 kids."
me- "That's nice, is it a new boy or girl?"
miss6- "a boy - called Jack"
me - "so what is he like?"
miss6- "well he's quite nice."
me - (teasing her, she gets the joke well) - "so is he cute?"
miss6 - "you do have to leave some stuff to your own imagination, mum!!!"

 :D :D :D :D :D :D Hmmmmmmmmmm, sounds like I'll have to see for myself!!  ;) :D :D :D :D
