Good on you Dede. It's a really hard task but you can do it. It's great to do it with somebody else too so that you can support each other. My DH and I gave up at the same time and we are so pig headed neither of us wanted to be the one to fail. That was over 9 years ago.
I found to help in the first few weeks to give up the things that also reminded me of smoking. The one major one was alcohol (I know, it seems almost impossible but it really does help and it's only for a few weeks!). I also had to give up coffee for a while too cause I always had a smoke with my morning cuppa. You can substitute with tea or juice or something and then after a few weeks slowly bring back the coffee. Good luck with it. You can do it.

Yes I always have a smoke with my cuppa tea. Might have water instead for the first few weeks. Good idea. I don't drink alcohol so that's not an issue. But I drink heaps of tea, and always have a smoke with it.

As for cost I buy packs of 40s which are nearly $23 at my local shop :o, I'm guessing someone will work out what it cost me per year. I know it's a massive amount.

A rough calculations is that you are looking at over $4,000.00 Mandi - gosh you are going to be SOOOO rich at the end of this!

Good on you Dede !  My husband and I are both smokers unfortunately !! We've tried  to give up a few times too. He recently bought some electronic cigarettes ...... not so sure about these but it worked for my Mum for a while though ! I think if we had of given up with her, she'd probably be still going. We should join you too !

Gee that was quick lol.

Was talking to my friend who said we are not trying to give up, we are giving up :D. This is my friend who nearly died recently from a perforated bowel. That was enough to scare her into taking better care of her self.

I came to $5,247. That's rounded to the nearest dollar :o

Anyone who wants to join me would be brilliant. The more the better. My DH also a smoker has not had a smoke for a few days. He's trying at the moment. I hope he can succeed too. Would be even better if we can both give up.

That is what I got too and that is only if you are smoking 25 a day.  So it could be more if you smoked more!!

Good for you Mandi, I am proud of you
