That's amazing Trudy.
We can't comprehend that number of people at our type of weddings!.
My last one was DS almost 2 years ago and they had 120 people which was more than enough in our culture..
It was lovely though

I may have missed some postings so this question may have come up already.
Do you have Indian family?
I have one SIL who is Indian. In fact my family is very multicultural since leaving Scotland in 1981

No, we are not related to Indians. I have know the grooms father since I was around 12 and have stayed friends since then - I am now 58!!! We have been lucky to have been able to come to his daughters weddings and several others here as well and they have been to Australia for our daughters.

What great friendship Trudy and what a cultural experience.
How lucky.
We are seriously thinking of India next year or early the following year.
I will certainly contact you once we know our plans.
Your help would be very much appreciated
Hope you continue to have a wonderful trip and look forward to hearing all about it

Trudy thank you for all the photos. The colour is so beautiful. It is nice to see that little ones the world over are the same, they become bored with whatever is going on.. Beautiful photos.

Hi, well the wedding is now over so thought I would send you a quick peak of the day. The first photo is the groom and his youngest nephew leaving his home on a horse. The second is once they and another nephew have climbed onto an elephant for the last part of the journey to the hotel where the marriage is to take place.
The next one is the bride arriving for the ceremony - she is wearing a lannga which is traditional Rajistani dress of a long skirt, blouse and a veil. It was very heavily beaded with blue peacocks. The last one was taken at the dinner in the evening. The bride had changed into a red lannga for the evening.
Unlike Australian weddings here no one watches the service. They are tucked away in a corner and the guests just go on eating and drinking.
At the dinner in the evening the bride and groom sit on a podium where they receive good wishes from the guests before mingling a little.

I know it has been said before but the colors are truly amazing. What a magical day you must have had. What sort of dishes were served at the dinner?

Hi Moptop, At all the lunch & dinners for the wedding there has been a buffet. We try not to eat at these affairs because they use outside people to cater for the functions and it's a sure way to get sick if you are going to. The food for the wedding night was a large mixture of traditional Indian food - both meats and vegetables - at most Indian weddings meat would not be served. There was also pasta dishes and pizzas then icecreams, and Indian sweetmeats. Lots of different fruit drinks, yoghurt drinks, tea & coffee as well as lots and lots of alchol. These people just love their spirits as well as beer!!!!!
Yesterday the bride arrived here to officially meet all the grooms relatives and to stay the night. The bed was decorated with strings of flowers and I will put up a photo later. They are going to leave in a couple of days but it has been nice meeting and getting to know her - such a lovely girl and although it's an arranged marriage they have been engaged for a year and know each other so well and are very much in love!!!

Gosh an arranged marriage. That is interesting, lovely to read that they are in love too.
I do love the photos, especially of the elephant.
