She needs to set up her own account on her computer with her real address and her own password. If the Kindle was first registered with someone else that needs to be deleted and she needs to register it to her computer in her own name.

There are very few books in the daily deal that are not available to Au but never the less there are some. If you are just registering your first Kindle and buying books there is no need to be greedy.. Just get a few, start reading and fo with the flow. Get used to the system then start downloading as needs be.

If the Kindle is first registered to an address in the US you can encounter  problems.  It needs to e re registered.

Thanks Gert. I will ring her after we've done the dishes and pass it on.

Sorry cookie  i never saw your question. My new replies toast threads aren't always accurate.
I got the touch, back lit one. It was great on the plane and n bed. Been too busy to read much lately.

Not sure however we have account set up best?
Amazon account is in DH name and it can download to specific machines eg his tablet, my kindle etc, ( have to click on which machine) however we only get one copy to whatever machine we choose and there is no sharing. He subscribes to a newspaper but it only goes to his tablet, which is a nuisance as I don't get to read it. I can download ooks automatically from and direct to kindle from amazon but then he can't share the book.
Where are we going wrong Gert? Thanks x

All  devices need to be registered to ONE account. I have my PC Kindle, iMac, 3 iPads, and three actual Kindles on one account. If needs be deregister and re register to one Amazon account.

My daughter, my husband  and I all get the downloads at the same time.

My son DIL and grand kids used to be registered to my account but they get different books now so they re registered theirs.

A newspaper subscription  maybe a different thing as it may not be through amazon but an affiliate or some such.

Go to manage you kindle and check out all options.

You will see your registered Kindles well as your registered Kindle apps such as your PC or I devices.or androids

Look at the subscription settings on the left.

Success Gert.
DH looked on my kindle and went to cloud... I now have the daily paper too.
However it will take a while to work out how to read a broadsheet on a tiny kindle!

I was going to lend my sister some books that I'd purchased. Turns out none could be lent... Boo hiss

You could lend her your Kindle.  I think the lending is only in the US. Not sure about that. Maybe you and your sister could share an Amazon account . That would work

No she bought a paper white a couple of days ago. I don't think my credit card could handle her velocity. I'm annoyed that not one of my books I've purchased over the years I could lend to her despite Amazon saying its possible.
