Boiled fruit mix for Christmas pudding
« on: December 21, 2012, 01:31:37 am »
Bugger bugger bugger, I think I over boiled my fruit mixture for my Christmas pudding.
I was boiling the fruit mixture to make my Christmas pudding when a customer turned up for framing. So I left DD 9 to stir it for me while I dealt with the customer. The recipe says to let boil for 4 minutes.
It was boiling vigorously for more like 15 minutes while my poor DD was trying her hardest to keep stirring lol ;D, she was yelling out to me to help her before i remembered as her arm was aching :(, poor thing.
I'm not sure if its burnt as yet as I'm waiting for it to cool down before I can do a taste test.
The fruit has been soaking in Sherry for weeks, I hope it's not burnt otherwise I will have to start again and make the pudding tomorrow with an over night soak.

Good luck Mandi, it would be such a waste of fruit and alcohol if you have to bin it.

Well after the taste test it was fine, I did add extra sherry though as the extra boiling left the mixture a bit thicker than should be. I'm just about to pull it out of the pot ready to hang. :)

Phew that was close. DD deserves an extra serve.
