It is tidier than I expected Karen. Certainly not a lot there. I think Chookie's would be much better, however this is on DH's bucket list so I had better go.  ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) I don't have a bucket list, possibly because I am fulfilling his. ;D
I will certainly be thinking of you all as I know it is going to be great fun. Chookie and her DH are the most gorgeous people.

Thanks for all the suggestions on accommodation everyone.  :D We have booked an apartment in Queen Street, reasonably priced as we want to splash out on the hire car and go to Daylesford on Saturday. Anywhere else you would recommend for shopping?

We are looking at an Audi sportback to rent.  ;D

Michele,  sounds like you are planning to have a very good time.  We stop in Dalesford often,  as it is 1/2 way between Cherokee and Ballarat,  where our daughter lives.  Frangos' cafe on the corner has the best coffee and we often share a pizza from their wood fired clay oven.  Good casual atmosphere. They don't try and push you out as soon as you have finished your meal..  $20 for Pizza,  enough for 2 for a light meal.  Lake House is very nice but very expensive.  There is a new Japanese place,  haven't been there but said to be good.
You can drive down to the Lake and have coffee at the 2 nd hand book shop.
Interesting cookware shop in Main Street.   Lots and lots of gift shops.

Karen and Cookie,  I think that a lot more OS happening in our neck of the woods.
Cookie thanks for the kind words,  but just a reflection of the nice people we mix with.

Just looking at flights. There are no flights from Cairns that would get me there on time so would have to come on the 10th .

My question is ............May I beg a lift to chookies and if yes then where would be a good place to meet or to stay that would make it as easy as possible to facilitate such a lift.

Also I would have to beg a lift back to the city where I can catch a  taxi to the airport and be there by 7PM to catch the only direct flight home at 8 PM.

Just so wanna be there.

Of course that is if I am still invited chookie?

Don't despair, I might be able to do the city pick up and airport drop off - I will just have to go back through my pms to check times etc when I am picking up and dropping people off.  Will get back to you as soon as I can.

Sorry Gert, I've just read through everything in my in-box and I am full both ways - I thought I had one seat spare but I had a senior moment (a very senior moment, I fear) and I can't help you.  I am sure there are some others in town who would be able to offer their help.

That is fine. I am just back from a lovely lunch and back on to the forum answering all the lovely messages.  I will work something out. No worries.

I am one lucky gal. Had several offers of a lift and to make things easy for everyone am arriving on the 10th to stay at the airport and being picked up by the wonderful Wonder . KarenH and I will travel up with  her to chit chat along the way. Thank you all and especially chookie and DH making me so welcome at almost the last minute.  Now to book the flights and find a bl**dy coat or longjohns or something!
