I have always loved the name Eilidh (pronounced A (as in hay) lee).  It translates as Helen.

As Robyn says, lots of the 'older' names are coming back.  I also like Jean and Edith but also Sienna.

A girl that I used to know called Elke pronounced her name as "Elle" -"key"

I had a great aunt called Zita, which is a name I love, and another called Ruby.
I also like Siobhan (PRONUNCIATION: shiv + awn”), however, i told my mother that I liked it when i was pregnant, but she didnt want me to use it (I didn"t) as it is difficult to spell.

Stella, I like that name too Suzanne :)

I worked in a child care centre for a while and once of the carers was called Siobhan. The poor kids had no idea how to say it when they saw it on her badge :D

Our DD is Petra which is apparently Russian too (unintentionally) - and so is our boy, Anton. They just happened to be the ones we could agree on (DH wanted Dalton for DS, but all I could think of was Royal Daulton  :D )

Other girls' names we talked about were Isabelle, Lily.
I quite liked some of our grandparents' names too - DH's Nana was Zena, and my Gran was Aileen. A little old fashioned but quite special.

How do you pronounce Elke?  :)
The Europeans pronounce it "ellkuh" with a short "e" on the end iykwim. But we pronounce it El-kee.

Think of the spelling too, otherwise the Child will have to spell her name out so often, for years.

I wonder if that's why my mum called me Amy, maybe she thought I would be really bad at spelling :D

That is a lovely name.

I remember asking my DH's cousin who is Croatian what would be a nice girls name to go with ours and she said Snezana (pronounced Snesh - in - ah). I said "yuk, thats horrible!". Found out later that it was her name - but she goes by the name of Susan  :-\ (foot in mouth)
