Oh dear Judy I'm so sorry. What awful luck. Sending you a big hug and hoping GS gets better soon.

What a shame my DS didn't live closer he would've put a dent in it for you  :D That's no good about the chickenpox outbreak. It would be unbearable in this heat and you are wise to avoid it if you can. *big hug* and I can feel your disappointment

Well I'm back and I held it together nicely.  Fletcher only has a mild case because of course they have been immunized but I bet when he passes it forward, it will knock someone around.  As I left the kids both said Happy Christmas Grandma but he added and Happy New York  :D :D  He comes out with some things that lad.  Jo wanted to keep all my presents to the kids untouched until I can get to see them open them but I didn't want that, it wouldn't be fair so hopefully she will let them open the lot.  Mine from them are down at Middleton as well but Geoff's lucky, I was able to bring his gift home - a nice crayfish, he will love that.  He never gets that in Morpeth  ;D

I will definitely have a moscato watching the carols tomorrow night MF and I hope you feel better soon and will not be quarantined from your family on Christmas Day.

Thanks girls.

Well done Judy.
Enjoy the carols and the moscato, we will be thinking of you having Christmas 12 hours before us.
Best Christmas wishes to you, Geoff and your Mother.

Thanks DJ and may your first Christmas in your new home be most enjoyable. Home is home no matter what the state of it but you've come quite a long way in a short time.

Oh Judy how disappointing for you. It's fairly unusual for adults not to be immune to chickenpox as many of us have had it but don't remember. Maybe next time you or Geoff need a blood test for something ask the doctor to test for immunity. I know it won't help this time but would be handy to know for the future. You can be immunized but it isn't cheap!

I did check Bonsai, Mum was definite in her answer that I hadn't had it and Geoff's sister didn't know about him so better to be safe than sorry.  In Geoff's frail condition doctors advise to definitely avoid contact.

How truely awful for you (and for Fletcher too). It's such a pity you will miss out on seeing the kids open their pressies, but I bet you'll get a lovely phone call on Christmas morning. Enjoy your lunch with Geoff and dinner with your mum.xox

Judy great that you were able to at least see the kids and DD. It sounds like you will still have a nice Christmas Day and I'm sure you enjoy yourself wherever you end up. I'm sure Geoff will love his gift - will you do something with it for him for a Christmas treat?  I definitely agree better not to risk the contact, I had chicken pox as a kid but got them again when pregnant with DD, the doctor said most people think you can't get them a second time but it depends on everyone's individual immune system.

So sorry to hear your plans have changed Judy.  You sounded so happy in your earlier posts, such a nice time planned.  Still, you have a good attitude so I'm sure you'll make it the best day anyway.  All the best.  :-*

Sorry to hear about your poor GS and how that has changed your plans for christmas

At least you will e able to spend it with Geoff and your mum

We will all be thinking about you.

I'm alone with my DH this christmas too and had to open my christmas ham to eat last night because the porterhouse I planned  didn't smell the best when I took it out of the fridge for tea last night and it wasn't worth the risk of eating it.

The best made plans .........grrr
I do the best I can
