Defrosting vacuum sealed meat

Does anyone know who long vacuum sealed meat will keep once defrosted. I defrosted the meat in the fridge and it's still vacuumed sealed in the original vacuum sealed bag. Not sure if it's the same as defrosting meat in normal packaging or lasts longer.

I wouldn't keep the meat for more than 48 hrs once defrosted.

Just open it and smell it. If it smells ok it is fine. If it smells ok and is a bit slimy then rinse it and smell it again. normal bacteria won't kill ya anyway if thoroughly cooked. If in doubt curry it or give it to the dog or your neighbours dog if ya don't have one.
I like to live dangerously and probably would just re freeze it. Done that plenty of times. Do I hear screaming NOOOOOOO! Don't care it is all about the nose and eyes.

Have to agree with Gert. Smell it and check for slime factor.

My BIL a butcher has always told me that vacuum sealed meat lasts 3 times longer . It's because air cannot get in. I have often taken packs out of the freezer to the fridge and eaten them 5 days later.

Good to see ya Aussie Brenda. Had to laugh though, if in doubt I let the dog make the choice.
