New confused member
« on: March 05, 2014, 02:12:30 pm »
I have had my Thermomix since 2010 and have only used it about 6 times.
I recently found this forum and am so dense it has taken me 20 minutes to work out how to post
I also bought the Thermomix bag online and cannot seem to get it assembled correctly
My consultant is no longer a consultant and I am looking for help
I would welcome any suggestions
Thanks

Hi AJ, welcome to the forum.  I hope CP's link has helped you with the carry bag problem. Now you need help to get the most out of your TMX, why have you only used it 6 times in 4 years - lack of confidence or no support?  Have you contacted Head Office if you live in Australia, they should be able to put you in touch with a new consultant.

Welcome Aussie Jewels.  It is so sad that you have barely used your TMX, but hopefuly joining the forum will encourage you to get into cooking with it more.

My best suggestion is to leave it on your bench so that it is not a problem to dig it out of a cupboard before you even start using it and it is then nice and handy.  Then start using it, even if only once a day to make something simple - perhaps a smoothie, maybe just to chop onions for your evening meal.  Lots of little steps then, before long, you will be more relaxed using it.

Browse the recipes on here, find something that takes your fancy and make that.  Experiment with different ideas and, if you are stuck, consider the forum members as your consultants - collectively we probably have the answers to most of your questions.  Feel free to ask us anything, no question is too 'silly' or 'dumb', after all, we were all newbies once.  There are many skilled users and consultants on this forum so I hope you take advantage of our 'knowledge base' to help you get fun, enjoyment and value for money from your purchase.  Good luck and happy thermomixing.

Welcome to the forum!

My biggest worry when buying my TMX was that I'd spend all that money and not use it, and I'm sure it's this forum that's really made sure that hasn't happened.  Even on days when I'm not cooking much, I like to look at the "what's for dinner" and "what are you cooking today" threads for inspiration and to show me new ways to use the TMX.

How about grating some cheese. I buy 2 blocks one for grating & one for cheese & crackers etc. I grate the block as soon as I bring it home, then ready to go.

Hello and welcome
It can be quite overwhelming when you start using your TM - there is so much you can do with it and there are so many wonderful ideas out there.
I agree with the poster who mentioned keeping it accessible - that's a great first step.
Then think about what you are already cooking on a regular basis and see whether there is a TM version of that dish to try. Something like spaghetti bolognaise may be a good place to start (that is a staple in our family).
Another good place to start may be with the veg or chicken stock paste - it's easy to make and incredibly useful.
When I bought my TM, I had my DH's voice ringing in my ears - his comment was: 'if you are going to spend all that money, you best make sure that you use it!' He is the first to admit that it was a brilliant buy and that I use it almost daily. Many times I won't cook a meal in it, but I may make the mashed potato (another staple), cook the rice, grate the parmesan, make the salad dressing etc etc.
Lots of luck and please let us all know how you go.

HI and welcome. First get it out, and leave on the bench. Use it daily just for something simple, to get used to it.

soon it become normal to use it. :)
