I haven't stayed in Melbourne for a long time so can't comment on accommodation, I'd like to stay somewhere that does breakfast and has a bar, as they were our meeting points. I loved arriving at breakfast and seeing all those Smiley faces. Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree, nice to have room to have a chat both at the beginning and end of the day.....maybe the middle too....with the odd glass of bubbles thrown in!

I'm flexible on dates but weekend suits better than midweek, due to schooling, etc.

It has to be a pretty big bar area or meeting place, we were a decent sized group in Tassie and Melbourne could be even bigger.

The Escape Room has just been on Sunrise, 2nd biggest tourist attraction to the Great Ocean Road (apparently).

I wonder CP?? It just seems strange to me when there are so many fantastic tourist attractions in Melbourne/Victoria - Phillip Island and so many more. I had never heard of this beofre you mentioning it.

Looks like I'll be spending the day in the city tomorrow, so I might go and have a look at the two hotels and check out the bar and restaurant areas and will report back.

Thanks Wonder, we would appreciate that.  Even if there's a lounge area close to the bar, what we had in Hobart was a huge atrium area on 2 levels adjacent to reception one end and the dining room the other.

I'm sure I'll be having more than one drink. It's the start of good food month in Melbourne and it's BBQ lunch Saturday. There a few places doing single serve plates so Dh and I thought we would catch the train in and spend the afternoon sampling a few different places and having a drink at each place. Unfortunately the weather is going to be horrible but it will be great spending the afternoon in there.

I'm good for the dates suggested.

I stayed at the Welcome over 15 years ago, remember small rooms but I only just started working or at uni so was great just to be away.

Oh thought of all the Hobart ladies at Jansz Wines yesterday 😄

Obbie,  do you mean Quest ?  They are about $200 plus a night.  There are two in Carlton but no big meeting area.  As Jen pointed out this was a central focal point of the Hobart experience.
