I still haven't done this one girls, as I said, it came by email from my then consultant and I thought it must have been good for her to send it to me as she had never sent much else to me.  I would sub it with 1 tsp any stock powder Chookie, chicken or vegetable would do the trick.  It certainly has the thumbs up from the reviews.

Thanks JD,  I weakened and made some vegie concentrate.  I changed the recipe a bit,  put in 2 tomatoes and reduced the salt to 50g.  Have put it in small plastic containers and will freeze.

ACW you could substitute whatever you ilke its just to add some extra flavour..a neighbour of mine adds a sauce base in powder form..you could play around and add whatever i think in that area like a dried soup mix to the same amount or to taste really, or any kind of substance like that, gravy powder?? dont know experiement!!

We really loved this dip when I made it today.  I have run out of veg stock concentrate, so I just dissolved a heaped tsp of chicken stock powder in 2 tsp of hot water and mixed that in.  Yummy!!!

I made this today to take to a family picnic.  What a hit!  My boys are very particular about their french onion dip.  They certainly made short work of it.  Good job I kept some at home for me to take to work for my lunch tomorrow.

Highly recommend it!

JD i shared this recipe again with family in oz and made it for them while we were visitng and they all loved it as usual..i have found it best with a chicken stock cube ground up and mixed in..gives it the yummiest flavour and beats any bought stuff by a mile...i wont buy dips any more...too many good ones here to try and JD summer is just around the corner  :)  also loved a smoked salmon one on here with walnuts in it..will have to find it and post something there too yum yum (so much for shedding kilos...impossible when you own a thermie lol..its all too good to avoid hihi)

Thanks frozzie, nice to see you showing your family your favourite recipes from the forum whilst visiting.  Hopefully by the time you go home they will have everything down pat.

I made a trio of dips for a work morning tea the other week.  I did the garlic and herb, and the beetroot dip (both from EDC), and this french onion dip.  The french onion was my favourite!

In the above recipe adaptation for corn dip you say "I just mix a jar of sweetcorn relish with 250g cream cheese".  This may sound dim and I hope you don't mind me asking (I'm not an intuitive cook and find that I need explicit instructions - which means that I will probably eventually drive everyone here nuts with all my questions), but do you mean that you add the sweetcorn relish to your FO dip, or you simply make a corn dip from the relish and cream cheese?
