Amy, mine always just look like a cake from the top and the sauce is all hidden underneath. If I make extra sauce it sometimes bubbles up and over the edge of the dish but the cake portion has never shrunk away from the sides like yours.

Maddy, as always they look amazing. Now we need details, cake - was it a converted recipe? fudge icing?? tip?? piping process??  ;D

Wow....thank you all  :-*  :)

Are they made in individual molds?

In an icecream cone pan would you believe  ;)  Made by Nordic Ware....they are ridiculously priced here, but I hunted one down on ebay for 1/2 the price.  Plenty of sprink was sprayed, and they released well.  I think the cone detail would show better with a chocolate cake.  The only downside is they're not great for transporting.....a few toppled over  :P

Now we need details, cake - was it a converted recipe? fudge icing?? tip?? piping process??  ;D

The cake was the recipe I used for the fruit tingle cupcakes I posted here
I used the Wilton 2D tip and swirled, and the icing was a Crabapple bakery one, which I made in the K.A......happy to post it if you want it  ;)

Maddy who were they for, or was it for your family.. ;)

DD turned 15, so made it for after we went out for dinner with the family.
She's having a day out and sleepover with friends on Sat....so need to think of something else to make for then.

tonight I made a batch of Tenina's cranberry & almond granuesli.....yummo!

.........EAT CAKE!

Maddy thanks for all the information, it's great to know.

Chookie it sounds like there was a lot of damage from last nights wind, great thinking with the cooking.

Hope you get your power back on soon Chookie but I'm sure your visitors will be grateful to be fed whatever you can rustle up in the circumstances.  It's a host's nightmare to lose power when they are having people for a meal.  Good thing you have a gas stove.   :-*
