Today was my last chance to get some things cooked and into the fridge for the next couple of days before GS comes to stay for his week from lunchtime tomorrow.  ........

GOOD LUCK with that !!!!!

For our meal tonight I made some crepes then Karen's chicken and ricotta crepe bake which I will review after we've had them.

Would that be like the Last Supper before you are slain ???;) :-* :-*

.......  The wontons are great to freeze too. So that's a time saver bonus. Just fiddly in the beginning, especially when you have to play "cars" with the toddler whilst making them! ;D

Hope ther are no car shaped wontons in the freezer  ;) ;) ;D

Thanks Thermomixer, you'll certainly be hearing from me as to how it is going.  You need to know these things for when your little fella comes to stay.

If I had a choice for my last supper - it would be crayfish, not crepes but they were very nice.

He is only 14 months old Chelsea and isn't really into TV at all. I shall put it on though as he is used to having it on at his place and he can pick or choose if he wants to watch it or play with his toys.  I think he would prefer to be pushed around the back yard in Brum by his Grandma  :D :D :D We are going to go for lots of walks - fingers crossed the rain stays away but I see it out there in the west again, heading our way about Sunday or Monday.

Really hope it all goes well for you JD. By the sounds of it the 3 of you will have a magical time together! I had a huge smile on my face as I pictured all that you have planned.  :)

Thanks ILB - just picture the 3 of us, Grandpa on his gopher and Grandma with the pusher going off on some nice walks. I just fear he may miss the company of children though (especially his DS whom he adores). Anyway, we will just take it as it comes and see how we go.

The slowcooker cooks plum jam since yesterday. I made a chickpea salad, cooked fava beans (very bitter) for the garbage can  >:(. My family is asking for simple spagetti with tomato sauce

I've just made cherry pie filling (can of cherries which were tasteless, so added lemon, brown sugar and cornflour to thicken the juice), and the crumble topping.  It's about to go into bake now.

Currently steaming away in the varoma are goat chops.  The steaming liquor is orange juice, mustard, honey, salt & pepper, and mint.  I'll thicken it at the end with cornflour to make a sauce.  I've just popped the veggies in the Varoma tray on top to steam in the last bit of time.  It's (very) loosely based on a recipe which was posted in the recipes request thread for me (already forgotten which one, sorry) that"s supposed to be made on the hob in a frying pan.  But I couldn't be bothered (plus my foot needs to go up for a bit now - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :) ) so I've guessed at a conversion using the varoma.  We'll see how it turns out.  I'm unsure about the orange / mint combination - in fact the sauce generally.  Sounds too sweet for my taste.  But nothing ventured nothing gained, and the goat website seemed quite convinced by it.
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

Don't you just love spending time slaving away all day in the kitchen to be told - " I just want spaghetti and tomato sauce"

Hope they weren't kidding about how nice it is  :P :P :P

I like that combo - can add a little vinegar or lemon juice if too sweet.

We're in the process of moving in to our new house, and have no oven (or fridge, or beds) so I made scone dough in the TMX then cooked the scones in the electric frypan ('griddle' scones!), while making chicken gravy in the TMX (out of last nights' roast chicken and veges), which we ate on the scones.  Yum!  Won't be making much else today except mashed potato in the TMX to have with steak and salad for dinner.  And maybe custard for supper.  :)

MMMmmm!!! Just got some Hot Swirl Buns out of the oven.(As in Hot Cross Bun recipe (EDU) but scrolled and with a swirl on top.)
I only just discovered that white strip on top is only flour and water! Fancy that - great recipe  ;)
