Oops, Wendy told me yesterday that she brushes her Hot X Buns with Apricot Jam mixed with water. They are not sticky at all.

Might have to try making some Hot X buns this week . Today I made another batch of tomato soup , Dani Valent's . Also Brazilian cheese puffs , they are nice . Veggie stock as running out . Also sticky chicken thighs another Dani Valent's but she made wings or drumsticks . Very nice , next time I will put less natural soy but it was delicious with potato and sweet potato mash and green veg . Freezing weather , wind so strong .

Great cooking there K Atie.

I made some Squashed Ant biscuits today. Or Garabaldi Biscuits. The filling was nice but the pastry was awful to work with.

I had a panic mornings cooking session ... I heard the weather forecast of impending storms, flooding, etc. so had to cook and head home before the weather hit, all within a very short time period.  Made a green bean casserole (fortunately I had made the cauliflower / mushroom sauce earlier), a mixed grain risotto and a quick vege stew.  At one stage I had things cooking in the oven, on the stove top and in the TMX - didn't have time to taste anything, just threw it all together, into the car and headed home.

Marina, I sure it will all taste good. The weather sure was wild in our part of the world.
With limited cooking utensils and ingredients, lmade an apple crumble. Used cream instead of butter to mix flour, coconut , sugar and Panko crumbs for topping. Sprayed it with coconut oil. Very crunchy.
The apple was a mix of Bradley's and under ripe from our tree mixed with honey.

Cooking more apples this morning.  They have overflowed and I have a mess on the stove.  Must be time to get off this computer  :)

Denise, a lot of my friends call them squashed fly biscuits too. Perhaps Mum had more ants than flies on the very few occasions she bought them for us.
I will pop the recipe up as I have never seen one before.
Their appearance isn't wonderful as I had a lot of trouble with the pastry.

As long as they tasted good cookie, did they?  Even after reading your recipe I still have never come across them in my lifetime.  Interesting though, I do love pastry in any form.

Arnotts make them Judy. I think they are called Fruit something or other. I've never seen a recipe for them before. Here they are.

Ah yes, now I know what you're talking about but I've still not heard them referred to as squashed fly or ant biscuits.

I've made them. Cookie, I also had trouble with the pastry.  Thought they didn't have enough ' flies ' in them.
Cooked Pork and fennel seed sausages. Served with steamed new pots, home grown and leftover apple sauce.

Next time I make them I will be adding more ants/ flies too Chookie.

DD takes a piece of a fruit loaf or similar in her lunch each day. I usually make Chookie's Fruit loaf with the walnut oil. Yesterday I tried a new recipe, it had sour dried cherries ( you can get them at Coles -called Bing cherries ), Choc chips and almonds. I even snuck a slice, it's very nice. I will pop the recipe up.
