Lunch for workers.  Pork  Sausages with mashed potatoes, gravy and veggies.

Roast turkey roll for lunch today. Sausage rolls for morning tea.

That is so true Margaret. When we had the shearers it was very hard work for Mum as it was a cooked breakfast at 7.30am, morning tea delivered at 10.30am (scones usually), lunch on the table at 12 noon (this could be anything from cold meats and salad to a casserole, then afternoon tea about 2.30pm (this was fruit cake and other cakes. They always enjoyed shearing at our plae as they food was fresh and home made. I don't know how Mum managed it as she had 3 kids to feed and get on the school bus as well. Wash, iron etc etc. No wonder she was exhausted at the end of shearing.
Apart from shearers we didn't have many people come to do work, Dad and the workman on the farm did it. Although stock agents always managed to call at lunch, morning tea or afternoon tea.
Then there was Wednesdays when she and a friend used to visit each other for afternoon tea. The food was great as we got to eat it after we got off the bus from school.

I am exhausted just reading about that daily routine for the shearing, Cookie.  How many days did it go on for?  It was a hard life back then ... is that still the tradition to this day or has it changed somewhat over the years?

The tradition still goes on but we do not cook for the shearers . Their contractor delivers a platter of food , summertime it is like a smorgasbord of food chicken ham egg salad , and a pasta salad . When it gets a bit colder they have individual roasts with mash and veggies. Done it the foil containers . They just heat it up in the microwave. We supply tea and coffee , biscuits and normally toasty food like bread  ham tomato cheese . When we do a big shear I will make a cake , just depends . My MIL will always have a cooked meal for my DH while shearing is on . I just try to always have a spear meal from the night before so he can take that .

Made SD pizza for workers lunch and 2 SD loaves to take to Creswick Market for SD demo. One olive, one plain.

As K Atie said the shearers now provide their own food. We used to shear for 1-2 weeks. The price of wool was excellent in those days, although I believe it is improving at the moment.
Chookie my Mum would have loved a thermomix. I know exactly where it would have sat on the kitchen bench. In latter years she would have found one so useful, especially when she was by herself. Sadly she had Parkinson's so would have trouble doing the bowl on a 31. She didn't last long enough to see mine.
I loved growing up on the farm, I believe it was a dream  life as a kid. I would hate to have had to worry about rain etc though.

Decided to make something differnt, and made choc and peanut fat bombs yesterday.  Set them in silicon muffin trays.
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

Chookie there is a cold northerly wind blowing here and the sausage meal would be perfect.

Robyn, what are fat bombs please? I like the chocolate and peanut bit.

No cooking here today apart from dinner. Housework today.

Roast beef in oven now.
Been baking all day.
Marina brought the most beautiful home made Nutella when she visited on Saturday. Instead of eating it by the spoon full,!! ! I  made Brownies.  Now visitors as well as us can enjoy it tomorrow.
Also made Toll House Cookies.  Haven’t made these for years. Lovely. 
Also made 2 loaves of bread.
