Mab, know how you feel.  Do you think it is the result of your op?  Weather ? Perhaps a couple of days at the Lakes might help?

Chookie, Just a combination of things I think and a bit  run down,  I was very tired before the op and then I think I picked up some sort of bug.  I'm starting to pick up slowly just not quick enough.   I like the idea of a few days at the Lakes tho :) :).  We have DH brother and his wife coming over from Tassie for a few days in early March.  We haven't seen them for nearly 20 years so now I am madly tidying the house and thinking how to feed them.

I know it is hard not to make the extra effort cleaning the house and preparing for visitors, Margaret, but I am sure your guests are more interested in seeing you than looking around to make sure everything is clean and polished.

For food, have you tried one of the providers like Hello Fresh or Marley Spoon ... I know there others but I am not sure of their names.  I occasionally order from Hello Fresh if I am flat out and know I won't have time to do the shopping, etc.  These companies send you a box with everything you need, including the recipe ... all you need to do is supply basics like oil, etc. and cook it up (usually about 30 minutes from start to finish) and that's it.

I am not in any way pushing Hello Fresh (and I am not sure where you live or whether they deliver to your area), but if you feel you want to order from them, I can introduce you and you will get your first box free of for a very small payment.  I don't know if there is any benefit to me in introducing you, but I am not interested in that aspect, just if this is a help to you at the moment is the main thing so far as I am concerned.

I have a couple of friends who use Hello Fresh Marina. They like it. I have never thought of using it as you do, a brilliant idea.

Chookie I love the idea of adding more seeds to the top of bread. The only problem with that at our house would be that either DH or I will pick them up and eat them. I might do it if I cook bread when he is out and I hope I can control myself!! Seeds in salads are really nice.

I hope to make a fruit loaf today. I will do it later when the air con is on as its going to be 37/8 here again today. How are you going with the heat Judy?

I’m getting sick of it cookie but we have worse to come.
I met with friends this morning and one of them told us about a ham/cheese/veggie pastry thing she makes.  It sounded nice so I came home from visiting Mum later and made half a batch. I had to make a batch of FOSM first and I did chop the veggies and cheese in the Thermomix. Turning the oven on in this weather is ridiculous but sometimes you just get the urge to do something.  I ate 3 with some capsicum jam, messy to make but worth the effort.

Our DD sometimes subscribe to a similar scheme called Gousto Marina. She likes it as she said it saves her having to grocery shop and meal plan.

Great cooking Chookie and Judy.

Judy, they look interesting.
I know this sounds odd but I love shopping. I’m not working so have plenty of time to look for new products and ideas.

I must admit, part of the fun of cooking / menu planning, is deciding what you are going to make this week then going off to the market to get everything.  I really enjoy that aspect, therefore I don't often use Hello Fresh, but it is a great to be able to fall back on them if necessary.

I love shopping too. I look at all the new things and ponder over the labels of them. I hate putting it all away. If DH is home he puts it on the bench for me. If I'm alone I take it from the shopping bag and put it directly away. I'm not sure which is best.
I always check out the specials when I menu plan as we have an Aldi, Coles and Woolies all at our nearest shopping centre.

Judy the pastries look very tasty.

Thanks girls, they were nice.  Another friend went home with the recipe and said hers were too salty - she used a bought packet of soup and I make the recipe from the forum so that had to be the difference.  Mine were fine.

Off-subject totally here, but, talking of shopping ... who remembers Maddie?  She loved to shop ... especially if it was pink!!
