Cookie, I  would like a slice of that cake.  Yum.
Judy, DD didn’t try the pineapple Corned Beef.
Has anyone made a Sponge Cake using the TMX.?    I’m thinking of getting my Kenwood mixer out of storage to make one.

I tried that once Chookie and I wasn't very happy with it.  I always use my Kenwood when I want to make a sponge.  This is the recipe I use. Sponge

Nice looking cake Cookie.

I love your sponge recipe Margaret. It always works well for me.
I didn’t make anything today, other than dinner.
Last night we had a soupy stew or a stewy soup- I’m not sure which. I wanted to have something with it. I saw a recipe for steamed Chinese rolls in a book I had from the library. I made a half quantity and they were perfect to have with it.

Mab, thanks for the recipe for the sponge cake.
I did get the Kenwood out.  The recipe I used was similar except it didn’t have the custard powder.  I was whipping the eggs and sugar when there was a loud bang and smoke billowing from the Kenwood.
The machine is old but has a mincing attachment which I love.  I think I will have to buy another one. As I haven’t baked a sponge before and it wasn’t fully whipped it wasn’t a great success.  It looked good but didn’t pass the taste test.  I made a trifle out of it.
Made a loaf of bread.  1/3 rye flour.  Nice fine texture.
Also made Chicken bake.  Lovely light sauce.  Will post.

This is the original recipe for the Chicken Pasta bake.
I used the meat from the chicken legs used to make stock.
The sauce is tasty and light.
Would add some pre cooked veggies next time.
Very generous serves.
I made the sauce by making a roux and then placing all ingredients in TMX and cooking for 9 minutes, 100 degrees, Speed 4.

Chookie, what bad luck that your Kenwood has died.  Can you get it repaired.  Before I bought mine I had a Sunbeam and loved it, when it died, or so I thought,
I found out too late that it could have been repaired.  The custard powder in the sponge recipe could be replaced with more cornflour if you prefer,  I often do that.   Thanks for the Chicken Pasta Bake recipe.

Cookie, those Chinese rolls sound interesting.

DD1 in Melbourne recently bought herself a Kitchen Aid so she sent her hardly used Kenwood Chef with attachments over for me with her partner on this weekend’s visit.  I’ve packed up my old Sunbeam Mixmaster to give to a young couple just setting up home together.
The chicken recipe sounds nice Chookie.

I recently bought another Sunbeam pie maker in perfect condition from a second hand shop for $12. This morning I made over 2 dozen pies for the freezer. Not sure if the machine on the left is an earlier or later model than my original pie maker on the right.  The base is much smaller but the pie holds the same amount of filling.  So much quicker having 2 on the go at once when making bulk pies.

Your mixer sounds like the clutch on our car, Cookie!!

I have got a Sunbeam mixer in virtually new condition and I never use it (I don't really know why I bought it, to be honest, it just sits taking up space on my shelf). If you are interested, Chookie, I would be more than happy to pass it on to you - at least I know you will get some use out of it (sometimes) and that it has gone to  good home!

Today I made some cream of vegetable soup, a sweet potato and bean bake and a Louise cake.

Chookie, commiserations on the Kenwood dying. I have one in the cupboard.  DD and DH bought me a Kitchen Aid for my birthday a couple of years ago.
Judy you had a brilliant buy. Well done. You will have pies falling out of the freezer now.
The recipe looks brilliant Chookie. I will definitely be making it.
