Very exciting Chookie. Even now I keep my instruction book handy. Happy cooking.

With the amount of cooking you do you’ll have it nailed in no time Chookie. It did come with a recipe book I hope?

Thanks girls. Big learning curve. Great fun.
3 ovens, 3 cooking books. Found a Combi oven Blog. Looks good.
Most mornings I have a poached egg on toast . There is a defrost setting on my old microwave that was perfect. First experiment with new microwave was to find which settings would give same result. 5 eggs later I had cracked it. The experimental eggs went into fried rice. Today, bread. Can’t wait.

Ha ha, what a trouper you are Chookie. You stick at something until you get it right, a bit like the Woman's Weekly triple testing of their recipes.
I’ve actually cooked a normal meal today, not for me but for my kids who are on their way home from a school holiday break. Roast lamb, potatoes, pumpkin, maple carrots, cauli-au-gratin, beans, asparagus, broccolini and of course gravy and bought dinner rolls. All packaged up in alfoil containers for them to heat up when they finally get home to their place. Can’t stay to eat it here as they have cats to pick up from boarding by a certain time. I can’t believe how long it took me to do all the components of this meal LOL.

Judy, well done. When I cook a full meal now, I have to prepare some of it the day before.

Judy they will really appreciate that lovely meal.
I made some rock cakes yesterday. They said they will keep for a few days. I snuck one and they are rather nice.

They’re just tucking into it right now cookie (8.15 pm), DD sent these photos along with her comment of ‘it’s magnificent’, GD said it was ‘The Boss’ which apparently means amazing in a teenager’s world. SIL hasn’t said anything but is tucking into seconds with a huge smile on his face and GS was the first to plate his meal up - they all love food in that household and after eating mainly fish meals at the seaside towns they visited, a roast went down very well indeed. SIL had even said the other day that he felt like a roast before I even offered to cook them one. During the preparation and cooking process I had no interest in keeping anything back for myself, the whole meal didn’t do anything for me and I only hoped it tasted OK and that the kids would enjoy it. Looks like I’ve won some brownie points from all of them.

That’s a very lucky family Judy , yum .
Chookie, we poach eggs in microwave all the time . Use a tea cup with water about a centimetre add just egg pierce yolk gently , press power button twice ( so it’s power 8 or two below the highest setting ) 50 seconds , check ad 10 secs if needed , the time changes a little as my eggs are on the bench not in fridge and also how cold warm the kitchen is ! Use a fork to get egg out . Hope this helps . You could lower the temperature and do longer . I stand by the microwave in case there is a pop .

Thanks Katie, I know how grateful I would be to find a nice meal cooked for me after a long day’s travel. I also poach my egg in the microwave but I’m a pretty impatient person and tend to go full bore with everything. My method for a soft yolk is to half fill a small dessert bowl with boiling water, add egg from fridge and pierce yolk, cover and zap in 1100 kw m/v for 30 seconds on highest level. If extra large eggs they need another 3 seconds or so. This is for just 1 egg which is enough for me but I imagine it takes more science to cook 2 eggs for more than 1 person.

Judy, that meal looks delicious.
Thanks for the help with the poached eggs. I use a special microwave container for 1 egg. The timing wasn’t right for the first 2 that exploded all over new over
now perfect, 450 degrees , 2 minutes. The secret was to place damp paper hand towel over the container.
Chooks will be well fed today as I’m experimenting making Pita pockets. The Miele instructions were way off.

I made some roti to use to wrap the fish in tonight. I keep trying different recipes as I haven’t found the perfect one yet.
I also made some bliss balls.
