They are definitely not cheap Judy - can't remember the exact price except for making a comment to DH (he does the grocery shopping the majority of the time - only down side if I don't put an item on the list it does not get bought, with the exception of the wild and wonderful foods which he has read will delay the ailments of the aging process - can you guess who is the fittest and has the most stamina in this family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Enough of my ramblings - have attached a pic of the brand which we buy, Judy.

Not sure if you can grow them where you are johnro - but there is someone in the Adelaide Hills who grows them commercially, and who also sells the plants at a few farmers markets around the place. Apparently they are quite easy to grow at home to have your own goji berries.

I live in Esperance WA and bought a goji plant from Bunnings a few weeks ago to grow it was $16 thought it was worth a try :)

thanks for the reply...i think i might give the plant a go..thre are heaps of them in hte garden shop and i guess will work out cheaper too if it works plus some added goodness worth trying out in recipes in place of other berries  :)

I've had some goji berries given to me because they are meant to stop the progress of macular degeneration which I've been diagnosed with.    Only thing is that I've never used them as I didn't know what to do with them - when I googled them I got overwhelmed by the choices   :-[ :-[.

Robyn - do you use them straight from the packet when you put them on your cereal?

Am on my DD's computer so I won't hyperlink the recipes as her computer is a Mac and I am used to a PC, but had a lovely day in the kitchen:

mini mini mini Croissants with Dried Fruit (under Cakes)
Creamy Chicken & Brown Rice Soup (Soups)
Pizza Pockets  (lunchbox booklet)
Salted Caramel Maple Ice Cream (2009 calender and under Desserts)
Profiteroles  (my recipe for Choux Pastry, under Cakes) with
Creme Patissiere filling (EDC) and Caramel Toffee (Nico Moretti class - which is basically 2 cups white sugar, with 1/2 cup water)

DD took the profiteroles to a Pizza night and I just thought they looked so edible! I really wanted to have one but we weren't sure how many people were going to turn up at the dinner and didn't want to short change some one  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

**Can I add that I made the profiteroles with bakers flour (eg my bread flour) and they turned out even better. I don't know whether I dreamt it or read it, but the message I got was that the flour is stronger so it will stop them from collapsing (think I may be going nutty now)

Today for me was another batch of green tomato pickles (beware of the gout DH), Raspberry jam and Strawberry jam. oh also garlic and herb dip on request from little miss 7.

I have cooked absolutely nothing today - we went out for lunch and the servings were so big I bought home a doggy bag with 400g chicken fillet slices in it.  Will do something with that tomorrow.

Well this morning is the first morning with TMX and so far have made Cafe Latte and Rick's Apple & Cinnamon porridge (with DD7 & 5).

DS3 doesn't eat porridge, DD3 and DD5 had seconds, DD7 ate about 1/2 and gave her serving to DD3 and DH said he thought:
1. He likes his porridge made with milk;
2. I should peel the apple;
3. I should add more sugar;
4. I should add less cinnamon;
5. I should maybe try an unflavoured recipe  :-))

DH did say he thought the Latte was really creamy.

Off to start on the bread for dinner tonight...

At least some of the family enjoyed their breakfast Kellie, it is hard to please everyone with porridge as it seems we all like it a different way.  :D :D   I rarely have porridge, maybe in the middle of winter for a change but I really only eat it because it is good for you not because I like it  :-))

Straight from the pkt Katya for cereal and if I am making porridge I put them in at the start with all other nuts and seeds - thoroughly enjoyable this way!!!!!  :)   :)

Kellie - sounds like the three bears and their porridge!!!

Weekends are always cooking days - DH and I have to almost roster ourselves to take turns using the thermomix!  His 'famous' chilli ketchup, two loaves of bread, chicken liver and pistachio pate, a gremolata for the duck dish (yum), crumpets for breakfast.

Had the thermomix for over a year and still so much fun. Problem is that i'm so tempted to cook a lot of things I normally wouldn't (like pate and choux pastry) and then have to eat them   :-))

Found something to do with half the doggy bag of chicken we bought home from a restaurant yesterday - Chicken & Mushroom Pasta - I didn't even have to ask DH what he thought of it, he volunteered the information after only a couple of mouthfuls.  Not a pasta lover usually, he loved this one.  Also made fundj's latest posting. a fruit cake .
