Judy,

a friend of mine on another forum has been drinking nettle tea, made her own out of nettles on her farm. I think, but don't quote me, that she said it was a great source of iron. They were discussing getting more iron in the diet.

I have an abundance of apples and my mum had the symply good recipe books where they use lots of apple sauce in mufifns and cakes. So I made apple sauce, which in my kitchen means purreed apples (LOL), in the Thermomix. Then I whipped up apple cinnamon muffins, jam muffins, banana cake, chocolate cake and apple tea cake. Easy Peasy! The recipe stressed not over mixing the batters, so I used the TMX to beat up the eggs, sugar and vanilla.

I have all those books too but haven't used them for ages now.  Boy, you love making cakes Wombleydoo - you must have a big freezer!  My daughter needs iron in her diet too but can't see her drinking nettle tea - be interesting to taste it though.

i just tried to do my taco meat in the tmx and ended up with taco soup. it's the same problem i had when i tried to do the sloppy joe mix as a meat contribution for tenina. is the tmx just really not suitable for mince?

Karen, I think you have to part freeze it first, at least an hour or so!

I love Nettle tea!!! I have 2 cups a day 1st thing in the morning, Nettle tea purifies blood and good for toxic clean out (gets the bowels moving!)

Well that's it folks! Have just posted the liquid detergent for the washing machine! Smells and looks lovely, will try it in the morning, and post the results...... but have a funny feeling that we will never be buying washing powder again! ;) ;) ;) How cool is that!  8) 8) 8)

I haven't made cakes for ages. I usually make biscuits. Most of the muffins were mini muffins, so they take up less room LOL. I stick them in tupperware containers and put them on one shelf in the freezer. I have an upright freezer. These cakes should last me a couple of weeks.

Today I babysat at DD's place and noticed some mince in the fridge so, using her TMX, made her a batch of bolognaise sauce - the only thing I could come up with after having a look in the pantry and fridge for other ingredients.  I don't recall having ever made this for myself on mine but it was really nice and DD only had to cook up some pasta later so she was pleased.  I'm trying to clear my overcrowded freezer so for our tea, I thawed out some lamb in red white sauce, cooked some pasta in my TMX and hey presto, tea was done.  I also have some packs of frozen watermelon so made myself a daiquiri - not quite the drink for this weather but it cleared out another space and it was very nice indeed.

you are such a good mum! none of our babysitters (all family) ever do anything other than look after the kids!

(mind you i was glad to see it after my MIL & FIL spent the weekend with the kids last year - MIL's house is immaculate but she had an 8y gap between her 2 kids! i was relieved to see even she couldn't deal with 3 under 3 and have a clean tidy house lol)

For 3 years Karen, I used to cook a meal and dessert on the Monday to take down there on Tuesday plus do her ironing and a general clean up.  However, it was getting too much for me and taking up most of my Monday so this year I just do her ironing and babysit. I prefer to do it at their house as it keeps my place clean :D :D  I don't mind cooking their tea if she leaves me all the ingredients, especially now she has the TMX.

You are a treasure judydawn!
Wednesdays are my favorite day. Mum looks after Grace for me while I'm at work and then she has dinner ready when I get to their place to pick up Grace.  I long for Wednesday nights when I get a night off! LOL.  And she has a TMX too which is great - but not up and running as much as I would like her to be. She came along to the cooking class on the weekend and picked up lots of things and hopefully heaps of enthusiasm too!
