It was East meets West for tea here tonight - used my pie maker for chow mein pies.  Surprisingly good too.

Did you just use pastry and leftover chow mein Judy? They sound very yummy. I want to try ;)

They look filled enough to me Deedub, to the top of the pastry. You don't want them sticking to the lid like the buns that I have just put in mine. I had to quickly transfer them to the oven so I hope they don't drop.
Thanks dot & mcmich - I did cave in & try one, yum! I still think I should have used more egg mixture, but not bad for a first attempt. I'm really impressed with the pastry too, I've never made my own pastry before.

Yes Amy - I had puff pastry sheets in the freezer and with the talk of pies on the forum today, thought I'd use some of my leftovers of the chow mein for pies. It was either going to be that or spring rolls and I went for the easiest and quickest option  ;)

Uni, what mixture did you use? My mum gave me a similar tin for my birthday quite a few years ago, and I've never used it as I wasn't sure how evenly it would cook, or how much mixture it would take. She keeps asking me if I've used it yet....

I was thinking of doing the same thing with my left overs from tonight, but I didn't think they would turn out that well. I'm glad to hear they were good. I might give them a try after all...

I was hoping to get Tenina's book for my birthday specifically for this recipe, but she was out of stock. I'm waiting for the 2nd edition to come in.

I made spinach and blue cheese polenta for tea. DW is away at a conference for the next 3 days so I get to cook all the things I like that she doesn't.

I also baked the cranberry chocolate biscuit mix I made last night. I tweaked this batch a bit. I wasn't happy with the way the last batch turned out. Everybody that tried one loved hem and I had a few requests for the recipe but
I felt they were too thin and crumbly.

I will post my tweaks on the cranberry and chocolate biscuit thread.

They look great.  I might actually get out of bed in a sec (it is only 5.40am) and make them for the fairy to take for lunch.  I'm also making raspberry and coconut muffins and eclairs....later.

Ive been good and did get up :). Rolls and muffins made and even really stretched myself and made chic chip cookies. Cookies I don't rate but the muffins are nice and I'll post the recipe later.  I'd like more berries in them but that is probably personal taste.

The feral fairy has at least gone to school and is not hanging out in my bed today (she was allowed a goof day yesterday as she was very very overtired). Apparently I have a good mother award for baking and driving her to the bus but a bad mother award for insisting that she goes to school for the rest of the week.  Apparently it is boring cos they have finished their work for the term.  My response to her "tough luck"
