I heard someone say it is the type of jam you make just before inspection time if you selling your house!

Tried out my new dutch pancake maker from Aldi.  Burnt the first lot and had to throw them out.  Second lot a little better.  The temperature on the machine doesn't cut out so there is only one temp and that is hot and hotter. :o

I found the same thing mab19. I poured the batter in and then by the time of dinner pouring it was time to turn them, it took a bit of a flick of the wrist action with a plastic teaspoon but finally kind of got the hang of them  (also managed to do some with strawberry jam - they were delicious!)

Today a friend came over and we made Wagon Wheels from Donna Hay magazine. Think I might have another go then post the conversion if anyone is interested.

Sourdough buns and a loaf using Chookie's sourdough starter (mine lives in the fridge and doesn't care it its neglected for 3 or 4 weeks) and a recipe from Yoki Mardewi's book. I didn't completely cook the loaf, plan to freeze then defrost/complete cooking next week. Also some mushroom and chestnut soup converted from notquitenigellas wonderful blog. I'll post the recipe, quite yummy.

Harvested all the kumquats from my sad little tree (cutworms were the culprits!😡), have used some to make kumquat vodka, some with sugar and brandy for a liqueur. not sure what to do with the rest as we aren't big marmalade eaters (well, i could be but my thighs wouldn't thank me).  Might do it anyway and gift it all 😊

Have to do something with a rabbit tonight.. Hmmm, probably a recipe from Ferguson Henderson's delightful "Beyond Nose To Tail" cookbook, the only cookbook which has made me laugh out loud.

Got some excess lemons Kimmy? Sounds yum!

Today I made three different kinds of ice cream and layered it in a cake tin for a birthday tomorrow. Also made Maddy's cookies and cream cupcakes with dual coloured frosting :) now to tackle the dishes... :o:o:o

Lemon syrup cake and the Chocolate overload cookies for friends dropping by. I found the cookies too sweet but everyone else seemed to enjoy them.

No cooking for me as I was out at Forum Fest High Tea but my DH had his first go at making scones in TM & he didn't do a bad job.

I must find out which scones my DD made in her TMX for the High Tea Kerry, they were certainly better than what I've made.  Nice to hear your DH had a go too.

You were at the high tea looking lovely while DH  was home making scones.!  Can I borrow him next time I go away?

He is pretty good Gert :)

Judy I was thinking the same about Jo's scones & what temp/how long she cooked them for. Fresh scones are great when you have unexpected guests.

Jo's scones were amazing, please let us all know her secrets. In fact everything was amazing. A lovely afternoon.
Kmw thanks for dropping us off at the airport. We took your recommendation and had a delicious hot choc. How lucky are you? Having a hubby making scones!

A stockpile of porridge for DD and I for the next two days as I have to be at work early.
And a whole orange cake to take to work tomorrow.  Debating whether to ice it, probably not as it's easier to transport unadorned.  :)

Orange cake looks good. Which recipe is that, sue?

Looked up how to make scones on YouTube after reading about Jo's scones. I've only tasted a not-so-impressive one from asupermart.

I'll post Jo's scone recipe when I have more time and I'm on the computer. Just spoke to her and found out all the details - CC said it must have it's own posting so we know where to find it in future.  Interesting that she opened her new EDC to follow that recipe but when it said to add the yeast it was like 'what the!'.  Hers is therefore a variation of the original new EDC recipe.
