Today i made Isi's Vegetable Lasagne which was really nice (review in that thread).  Also made a chocolate & custard torte as celebration of my son coming home from Adelaide for a few days.  ;D

The base is using HCBuns, so instead I used 4 of Maddy's choc & choc chip ones that I made last week and froze just for this recipe.
Here is the link to the recipe if anyone is interested.  I did make it on the stove top as in the recipe, but next time I will convert to make the custard in the TM.

I over-cooked the custard which made it a bit thicker than it should have been.  It didn't spoil the taste at all just the appearance.
It really was nice and my DH has requested for me to make it for his birthday when family come over to share a slice of cake/dessert on his day.  :D

Only a couple of efforts for me today...

I baked some sourdough rolls from the dough I made yesterday in TiM... not bad and nice and tangy!  ;D

Then unexpected but very welcome guests for dinner so I made my quick pasta and tomato sauce and served it with my rolls from this morning which went down a treat!  TiM handled cooking for all 10 of us beautifully!

Finally made an unbaked lemon cheesecake with a gingernut biscuit base to be garnished with "grated" organic milk chocolate for my littlest man's 3rd birthday tomorrow... he will be pleased!  ;)

For dinner tonight it was wholemeal spelt Tortilla (tmx) and chookun fajitas (non_tmx)

had DH help with the tortilla, I rolled, he cooked. Did a better job than I did as I over-cooked a couple and they went crispy (nice for dips later though). DH's were nice and soft.  Was nice to actually be able to TASTE the tortilla too. D-almost 4-D loved them too so thats always a bonus!!

ps- think the tortilla were Tenina's but not sure

Yesterday I made wild garlic soup, using the recipe in the latest UK Thermomix HQ newsletter recipe.  DD1 and I weren't very keen, but DH liked it.  Today I made porridge for breakfast (using the tip given a while ago to use min speed 3 to avoid it catching on the bottom) and asparagus risotto for dinner.  I'm going to try to get back into the swing of making bread tomorrow.  I've gone from making it pretty much every day to not making it at all for months  :(  It's nice to be gradually getting back on track, though.

Hannah is 9 weeks old now, so baby food is starting to loom on the horizon.  I'm quite looking forward to it this time around - I'm armed and dangerous with my tmx  ;D
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

I've just received a gorgeous cook book called Bourke Street Bakery (a well known bakery/cafe in Sydney) and so today I made their Asparagus & Gruyere Tarts (also has fresh tarragon - and though I can't get gruyere here I was advised to use jarlsberg instead).

The pastry I made in the TM and because it has a long chill time it didn't shrink at all.  When cooked it's quite pale, but it's so light and yet quite stable.  The pastry was the nicest I think I've worked with.  I made enough to make 4 of these 10cm x 3cm deep tarts and also line a 20cm tart tin which I've put in the freezer to  make a Quiche Lorraine at a later date.

Was so happy how they turned out and they tasted wonderful.  ;D

How beautiful JulieO.  I have been eyeing that book off. It looks rather good. I have a birthday soon so may start dropping hints like 'I would like this book, it is at Big W and costs this.' I also bought a WW pies book on the weekend-it looks like some good winter recipes in it. It was only $14 at Kmart.

thanks Cookie.  I've got the Pies book too, haven't made anything out of it yet, but will be for sure.  I got mine from Target for $12.95.
The Bourke St book was up to $70 at some places  :o but can you believe the cheapest place I could find was on line from Book Depository in the UK.  It was $34.95 AU with free delivery.  Took about a week to get here and have been reading through it.  A really lovely book and if you like baking pastries/breads then you will really like it.  Gives the recipes for starters for breads too if you want to go that way.
A book to take my time with I think as there's so many lovely things and the recipes are not rushed, for example the pastry I made today had 2 lots of 2 hour resting times in the fridge.  Of course it could be prepared the day before you need it if you want to but today I just took my time, used the TM when I could and allowed the chilling time and the result was no shrinkage whatsoever and a lovely light pastry.  :)

Thanks Thermomixer.  If it's the sort of thing you like, I recommend having a flick through the book if you can.  It won't be for everyone but it appeals to me.  :D
