Well had to start on a cook up today . Made the crackled Almond biscuits and mandarin polenta biscuits , both very nice . Then some pumpkin soup with ristoni pasta .

Cookie, that looks very tasty.  If you didn’t even have 1 mouthful to try it yourself you have great willpower.

Carrot , nut and fruit balls.  Started SD loaf.
Stir fry veggies with chicken.
Chicken stock.

Yesterday I made some shortbread and a tea cake to take to a friends house for afternoon tea.

Have to do another baking cooking day . All for the weekend as I am going on a girls weeken trip away . Not good timing with planting started . so better go and create more food now . Told DH to only have the tomato soup , that is his for the rest of the week.

Nearly done made Adam Laws out if The Age , Chocolate Banana and coconut bread . Meatballs in tomato sauce ( on cookidoo) and the Quirky Joes Lemon Coconut chicken soup . Just casserole to make tonight and I'm done . Family will survive if they cook there own veggies!

This is the fruit loaf I was having problems with. It’s apparently Hungarian and is called an Almond and Cranberry Beigl. DD and DH tell me it is very nice.
That looks really interesting, Cookie.  Did you follow a recipe or use your baking instincts to make it?

SD loaf.  The cold weather, even though House is warm, took ages to rise.
14 hours over night , first rise.
6 hours 2 nd rise.

Marina I saw the recipe in the Women’s Weekly Food magazine. I ‘thermomixed’ it. I had trouble with the dough as I felt it was too dry, so I added a bit of milk to it and finally things turned out well.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I don’t have the luxury of a steam oven and know the benefits of steam in developing a good crust.  I wrecked my previous oven by placing a dish of water in bottom of the oven, but it did produce a good crust.
I can get a good crust by baking in a cast iron pot but sometimes I want to bake bread in a tin without a lid.
I recently read that if you soak Lava rock ( scoria ) and then place it in the bottom of the oven, it will slowly release steam.
I will let you know how it goes.
