Judy, your meal sounds wonderful. Please? How do you make a gin cocktail?? I bought a little bottle at duty free earlier in the year and don't know what to use it for. I've always been a wine drinker but never bothered in the summer as it's too hot. Will have to try some cocktails.

Nothing cooked here today I have spent it at the Royal Show so the freezer is feeding us tonight.

If you can't get blood oranges, just use ordinary ones.

I'm just sipping on leftovers from yesterday, topped it up with home-made lemonade to make a full glass. When I find blood oranges I buy some and freeze them as they are only available for a short time and hard to find.

Thank you Judy, I remember reading it. I love blood oranges but I have only ever seen them in the supermarket once and that was a couple of years ago. I'll make one tonight.

I haven't posted here for a while, so I'll list everything I've made in the last few days.

Mum's Mayonnaise (boiled one that I've tweaked), strawberry jam, mushroom risotto, bread.

I'll post Mum's Mayo shortly.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I haven't cooked anything since last Friday's visitors what with left-overs or eating out but tonight felt like more than normal after a big lunch so made a half batch of Agilio Oilio E Peperoncino (garlic, oil and chilli pasta) - I love that stuff  :)

I love that too!  Its one of those great standby recipes where you don't have to think too much about what you need.

Today I made spinach and ricotta cannelloni, used some of the bolognese sauce I made yesterday to top it and make it feed-the-man-meet friendly.  Used lasagne sheets, but they were a bit stiff and didn't stay together when served - presentation fail!

We had a long weekend here so it was nice having DD home for the 3 days. We went out and about so no TMX cooking.

I made the Salmon Tikka in the varoma, but didn't have rice this time, just the salmon with lots of the tikka paste spread on top, did some steamed veg at the same time and made JD's parmesan potatoes to go with.  We so enjoyed it and found it more filling than with rice and salad. It really is a good idea to use more of the tikka paste, it tasted wonderful.  :)
