Magnificent, this one measures full 6" in height. CP named the last loaf "tall bread". He asked if I could make it again and yes bingo i have ;D

Congratulations Hally. We love this recipe, I often add seeds to it.

Should have started this one earlier but I decided to give this 'tall loaf' a go as well, it is currently sitting in my bedroom window ledge with the sun hitting the window so if I can get it out of there and into the oven without knocking it, I will post a photo later.  Being a bull at a gate type person, I am going to have to be very careful aren't I  :-))  It is looking good at the moment with 20 minutes to go.

Well I thought I'd be a smarty pants and do a twin loaf but it didn't quite work out like that.  It sure is a high loaf Hally and I can't wait to cut into it and see if it is full of holes with such a long rise.

Just cut it and it is not as smooth a texture as a normal length rise but it is pretty good.

The dip in the middle, did you try & divide the loaf? A bit confused about your double loaf. ???

Ours are not  full of holes at all. The top is so crispy & it tastes yum.

How was yours? How tall???

I do use 1tsp of bread improver.

After the first rise, I halved the risen dough and put 2 pieces into the tin Hally to make 2 half loaves - one side must have had more dough in it as it rose more than the other and therefore they didn't join up.  It's quite OK though, I had a piece with jam and cream on it.  I won't do it all the time though - I just wanted to see how it went.  Mine isn't full of holes either but it is not quite as smooth as normal time rising.

Judy and Hally,  what fun you are having.  LOve the photo, it is like the high tin loaves we bought as kids.

Yes I'm a crispy crust person too Hally and you can't get much crisper than that.  One thing I noticed with the loaf was that it cooled down so much quicker than a 'normal' loaf and the loaf feels so light.  I have separated the 2 halves, it was easier than I thought. mine was the same height as yours Hally, a good 6".
