I have a new blog
« on: September 23, 2010, 11:57:57 pm »
I have started a blog, mostly about this and that, my early history, my favorite foods, my collecting mania and even a section about the Thermomix, although I have not posted much about it to date.  I do have several TMX segments written and in draft form and ready to publish when I get around to uploading the accompanying photos.

Some of the pages and posts I have published so far are things that I have done in the past but people keep asking about them - particularly the recipes, that I'm including them so everything will (eventually) be in one place.

I have come late to the blogosphere because for so long I thought I really didn't have all that much to say but friends and relatives have convinced me that my words may have worth to some readers.

And so, here it is:  Books, Cooks, Gadgets and Gardening

I for one will certainly be visiting your new blog Andie - having visitors today so do not dare look at this very minute or they may not get anything to eat for lunch  :D :D  You friends are right, you have had an interesting and full life and have so much information to share with others.  Glad to see you finally succumbed.

You are a very smart lady andiesenji, and your love of appliances, cooking, reading, gardening and modern technology have given you a lot of valuable knowledge to pass on to people.

My jaw dropped when I saw all those whisks. I threw mine out many years ago as it took up so much room in the drawer and would often get tangled up with other things. I am happy enough with just a fork  :D

Well done Andie. It is a lovely idea to put it all together.

That's great Andie!  Love all that antique cookware... I recognize some of those things from my grandmother's kitchen.  She lives in Texas, and always collected antique kitchen stuff, as well as linens, dolls, etc.  I remember her potato masher, which is the same as in one of your photos.  I wish I could show her the Thermomix - she'd be blown away!!  She said that whenever she reads my blog she has to go have a lay down because it makes her so tired!  I told her I'm sure she worked a lot harder in the kitchen than I do - Thermy does the hard work for me!  ;D

Great blog Andie! I enjoyed the photos of the cookware and your garden. I'll need some more time to do a thorough read.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Great work andiegal - love seeing all those gadgets, gem scone irons,... memories.

Good review of the TM31 and also agree about Eat Your Books.  I have joined but have only about 100 books on so far.

Great to see picks of the garden etc   :-* :-* :-* :-*

I liked your blog Andie- I love your collection of whisks and I personally would love to have some more copper pots and pans :) although your collection is quite extensive compared to my capabilities :-))

Thank you so much.

I would also like some constructive criticism, if you see something that doesn't read quite right.  Or if there is content on which you would like me to expand - that is, after I have added some more content to make it feasible.

I'm putting together a bunch of my own and family recipes that are just a bit different than others on the net - at least different from the ones I have seen.  Some are really old recipes that I have brought up to date with modern measurement (but not yet metric so that is a factor I have to work into my tasks).

I also have to sort through thousands of photos.  Just in IPhoto I have 7,643 photos.  I have more in older files from earlier macs, some are very old photos that I have scanned and converted to Photoshop and JPEG.   I thought when I started this I would be spending a couple of hours a day on the blog.  Now it looks as if that is just the beginning and it's going to take a lot more time, until I get it fully operational.
I still haven't figured out how to put in a "subscribe" button.  I've uploaded some plugins but when activated they don't show up on the page and the host can't figure out why either.  Odd things happen out there in the ether.
