I cooked dinner at my parents house tonight. Dad had ordered pasta carbonara with apple pie and icecream for dessert as it was his birthday dinner. I did all the prep at home, but was still running around the kitchen asking mum where she kept the rolling pin, large frypan, pasta server etc etc. she has even more gadgets and kitchen stuff than me, and she keeps rearranging things. I also made a ciabatta loaf and took some cheeses and pâté. We all all totally stuffed now ;)

Thanks CC. I did invite them for dinner, but mum doesn't like going out at night, and no one was free for lunch.
I'm drooling over that risotto Jam - I love pumpkin, but I'm in a minority at home

We had chicken and cashews. It was my first time making it and we liked it. The sauce was a bit of a disaster as we had no sherry so used grapetiser that was left over and no cornflour so rice flour instead. Was a bit jelly like so added milk. Not bad, but would try something else next time.

ES I am sure your Dad's meal gave you a lot of pleasure to make.

Our freezer is nearly empty except for the fish we are taking home. Tonight we are having sausages and mash with frozen peas, some shrivelled up carrots. Dessert is rice pudding DH made yesterday and some apples I stewed in Termite that we given to us.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Thanks for the compliments re the risotto everyone, although it is such a great recipe it was really easy.

Thanks CC. I did invite them for dinner, but mum doesn't like going out at night, and no one was free for lunch.

ES, I reckon if you read over the recipe you might be able to mash up all the pumpkin (or just use half the amount, you'll se what I mean when you read it) that way, no one else will even guess there's pumpkin in it...the wine and the bacon with the feta are a great combination and the pumpkin won't be noticed :)
