Forum addiction-Thermomixers Anonymous
« on: November 20, 2010, 07:18:32 am »
I think that we may need to create a "thermomixers anonymous" program (like Alcoholics Anon & Narcotics Anon). I have become addicted and have been staying up till all hours of the night  (last night 4am) on the forum. Does anyone else ever get so carried away that they do that too?

Now if we did that we would not be anonymous would we. Does that matter?

I don't think I have ever stayed up that late pandateddy but when I joined it was far easier to keep up with the postings than it is today, especially if you want to read all the earlier ones.  I try and read all the day's postings before retiring though and have to be sick or very tired to miss doing that.

LOL.

It's amazing the amount of new posts per day. I have a hard time catching up also. Together with approving lots of new members per day, I may well need to stay in into the wee hours of the night, in the not too distant future :)

I can imagine newcomers having to sift through all previous posts. What a task!!!

Have a great weekend , dearest members

Can't imagine the work load on the Moderators  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Yes Panda Teddy, it is very addictive. I've had plenty of late nights/early mornings on the forum, though not quite till 4am!

Having said that I've had some time away for the forum mostly just due to not having enough time and being distracted elsewhere. I'm not looking forward to catching up on posts, if i ever do  :-)) :-)) :o

Well, it's a wonderful healthy addiction at least!

I am now the proud new owner of a gorgeous little white MacBook that resides on my breakfast bar. I'm on it regularly when I'm in the kitchen. It's amazing how many times I need to check the forum for a recipe!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Yes the forum is very addictive. I think it is because of the friendliness of it. I usually check it once or twice a day. Like Judy I used to be able to read every single post. It has now become impossible to do that although I give it a good try.

I am am very addicted!!! but I am cooking some wonderful new recipes, and my family and friends love my cooking.  I have just created a new TM cookbook with my favourite recipes.
I put the laptop on the kitchen table to follow recipes listed in the forum.

My dear grandmother would be amazed I remember her putting her hand in the old wood oven to check the temperature because the gauge hadn't worked for years.
Imagine if she could have had a laptop and TM.

Just imagine! I often think of my mum when I use all my gadgets. She was a clever cook and learned from scratch because she came from a wealthy family with servants! When she married my dad, she hadn't so much as boiled an egg in her life. She became an amazing innovative cook and trained her three daughters to love food and enjoy cooking.

MJ my Mum only came from a normal city family but when she married she went onto a station and had to cook for her and Dad plus several working men. Bake the bread and all those sorts of things. At home in the city she'd had a gas stove. When she got to the station of course it was a wood fire, Metters Number 1 or 2. No electricity. I think I was about 2 when we got that. I remember  putting the hand in the oven to feel the temerature, or tossing a little flour onto the oven tray. At Christmas we had to go to the wood heap and bring back heaps of little bits of mallee root for the fire to keep the temperature fairly constant.

Mum would have loved a Thermomix as she was an excellent cook and wow she could make the most amazing puff pastry. I think it was her cool hands.

Gosh whoever says 'the good old days?'
