perhaps chop them up, and freeze them in 1tbspn measures in an ice cube tray?

I did plant the basil but unfortunately it carked it. ( not unusual for me as I often kill pot plants).

Try again when it is a bit warmer Mandi.  A half decent frost will kill it. I plant it in with my tomatoes and it grows well.  :)
