Gert, I don't have one and if I didn't have the 2 small glass ovens I already have, then I would buy one.
I think they sound really good and easy to use and though they seem a good enough size for families, I think they would come into their own for 1 or 2 people (and people living in hot climates)
I haven't seen one in the flesh, but they seem to be attractive too (compared to some appliances).

I am sure I could also be tempted Gert (that's why I am staying well clear of that thread) as I think they would be helpful, but I simply do not have the space and I think I would have trouble convincing DH that we need another appliance!

While I love my AF and would encourage everyone to get one, they are definetly a want not a need. We've found it extremely handy and using our oven less and less which is great as it's always annoyed me. It's so easy to clean being able to put the trays in the dishwasher and heats up in no time. Even DD who is against appliances has finally started to use it a little but only for heating up her pies and other pastries.
I'm now on the look out for a better dehydrator - always something else to buy

To heat up a pie is great. Seems crazy to turn the oven on for a pie or 2.
What temp & how long?

Sorry Hally, I'm not sure how long she is doing them for I think it's a matter of just trying and seeing what works. I think she might be defrosting in the microwave and then crisping in the AF so would just be a few minutes @ 200 I would think.

I know you will love it Hally. Less heat in the kitchen as well as so quick.

Well that was quick, I picked up an Excalibur 5 drawer dehydrator. Second hand off gumtree but it was purchased in September 2013 so still has the full warranty and after seeing what he paid for it happy with the price i paid. The guy is a chef and also has a hotmix pro for sale. He was saying there is a new model of the TMX due to be released at the end of this year - higher temp range, stronger motor and more stability were the features he mentioned.

That's interesting. Did he say why he was selling the Hot Mix Pro? I'd like to sell mine but DH says no.

Good buy then Wonder. How does he know there is a new TMX model I wonder. I would have thought that would be a very closely guarded secret.
