DH is on the phone ATM Mich. I'll ask him when he gets off, but he can talk for ages!

We have an Engel that stays in the car Mich. We bought our first one 36 years ago and we are now on our second one. It's good when you leave the van behind and go off in the car, you can pack a sandwich in there and cold drinks.
We also have a very large one that we leave in the car . Removed it on Xmas Day to store the drinks.
Strongly recommend it.

Our Engel is a 40 litre one Mich. We bought our first one in 1981 and sold it only to update to a newer one  20 years later. A friend bought it and it's still going strong. Often at Caravan and Camping Shows Engel usually have special deals going.

Michele, our Engel is also about 40 litres. We can use it in the car or plug it in at home.
In one of the cars it continues to run when the car is switched off. In the other car it stops running when the car is off.

Thanks Cookie and Chookie. The 40L is the one we were looking at.
The Newcastle camping and caravan show is on in February - would like something sorted before we go to Rockhampton at Easter.
Chookie, if it keeps going when the car is switched off does it drain the car battery?

I believe they can Mich. We have 2 batteries in both our cars so that one can run the Engel all night if we are free camping. The next day the second battery gets charged up. It's all a bit technical for me but if you need to know I can get DH to email you.

Yes it does drain the battery but as we don't use it for camping this is ok for us. Most people have a second battery.

Thanks Cookie and Chookie. DH is quite mechanical minded so he would probably be able to work it out. I'm looking on gumtree for a sceond hand one but when DH read your posts and saw that you guys have had them for years he thinks it will be worth investing in a new one.

Well with a third recommendation, seems like it is a no brainer.
