Yes, a new kitchen, very exciting and I am looking forward to it, but it will have to be very modest - it will be hard not to go mad on spending, though.  Still a long way off, maybe the end of this year or early next year, the architect is just at the construction drawing stage and we are not in a hurry ... impatient as anything, but not hurrying it (saving as much as we can just now so the more time we have to save the less the mortgage will be - or that's our thinking, anyway).

Marina, very exciting.
We are amazed at the craftsmanship the carpenter and his son did with our new book shelves so now have contracted him to do the study.
It has taken us 3 days to sort and stack the new book shelves.

3 days, wow!  Now, can you find a particular book within seconds Chookie? That's my problem, I tidy the bookcase then can't find anything, the exception is my Thermomix books as they are all stacked together of course.

Ah, yes, bookshelves ... another thing to go on my list for the renovation (I had forgotten about them).  One thing I am really pushing is incorporating storage cupboards, I notice modern houses don't seem to have much in the way of storage space and that drives me batty!

Marina. I thoroughly agree. When we designed the house at Cherokee we built in lots of storage. We like drawers better than cupboards. Really missing these drawers. I think that under bench storage should be drawers.

I think drawers are the best too. Sadly I didn't realise it when we built this house.

Yes, I am definitely a drawers person as well, although some of the units we saw at the home show incorporated such innovative and clever fittings in their cupboards that I was almost surprised to think that I liked that concept still.  Time will tell.

I love drawers also. In our kitchen (which was renovated before we moved in) there is 4 banks of drawers plus cupboards. I even have my spice bottles laying down in a drawer right under the cooktop, so handy!
We got some liners from IKEA that have rubber ridges so the bottles don't roll around.

I love that liner stuff Katj. We have it in every cupboard and drawer in the van.

New lamp shade. Bought 2.
The base was a present to myself when I left one school to take a post at another school.

That's a lovely lamp Chookie.

Very classy Chookie.  I love it.

This afternoon I visited a cheap pot place not too far from us - all this for $243 which included 5 bags of potting mix, not bad aye!
