It must be across the country Mich. My iron gave up the ghost yesterday.

That's no good Cookie. I hope you don't have trouble finding a replacement. Winter is the only time I don't mind ironing.

We bought a new iron from Harris Scarfe. Much better than the old one which cost double. Ral does the ironing

My iron is over 30 years old and rarely used. I paid $129 for it then which was pretty exxy and that is why I remember the price. I bought my very first ironing board just one year ago . I was forced to buy it as I had bought a few "tee" shirts as the weather turned cold up here in Cairns. They curled up at the hem which drove me nuts so I went to Bunnings and spent $15.99 for the cheapest nastiest ironing board. I was sort of pleased to buy it as I am now able to buy linen clothes but it is amazing That if you are careful you can wear a linen dress several times before you need to wash and iron it!

Gert, I love things that last. I have a pure fine wool cardigan with pearls on the collar. It must be 40 years old. I wear it once or twice a year. Always wear something under it. Have never washed it. Think the coating would come off the pearls.

Quality lasts. My iron was one of the first on the market that had a detachable cord so could be used anywhere. I once had visitors from England who actually WANTED to hang their washing on the Fold down clothesline which I had also never used. Can you imagine that. I didn’t even own any pegs so had to improvise. Of course they then wanted to iron said clothes. I had to hunt down the iron which was packed away. When I turned it on cockroaches crawled out. Hilarious. I at least had a tiny built into a drawer fold out ironing board. I left them to it.

DH got the Tiffany iron out of the caravan. It is quite old, leaks water and is very light. You need to iron over each spot 3-4 times. I will be buying a new one!

Michele, that seems very cheap for a Le Creuset pot. Check the size. However I prefer a stainless steel pot for stock as I like a large pot that heats quickly and can also simmer. I use the sam pot for jam.

Thanks Chookie. It's enameled steel, 7.6L.
I will look at steel too. Thankyou.

Le Creuset is usually enamelled cast iron. However this sounds like a good buy.

I purchased a Tefal Cook4me connect pressure cooker. It has 150 inbuilt recipes and there is a "platform" you can go to, to download stacks of recipes. You can also submit your own recipes to the community page and send them to the machine after they have been approved. It is not a scary pressure cooker at all. I've made soup and jerk chicken so far. Turned out very well.
They retail for $499. If you go to the Tefal T shop, register your email, you will get 20% off your first purchase - $100 off and free postage.

Sounds like a good buy McMich. Electric pressure cookers are so different to the stove top ones, not scary at all.

These have sparked my interest of late but once again I keep telling myself that one person doesn’t need an appliance like that.
