When I couldn't use mine a while back whilst waiting for the repairman, I thought I would hate having to wash up by hand but when I thought about it, it wasn't as important as the washing machine, fridge, computer or TMX going on me.  Having said that, I don't have a family of 7 either.  Enlist their help Mandi - it won't hurt them to learn how to wash dishes by hand, they may need to know how to do it one day for themselves  ;)  You will survive until the money becomes available, there will be lots of complaints but you will survive.

Yes Judy I agree, sometimes I think it's good for the kids to learn that they need to do their bit to help out.
I couldn't cope without my washing machine, don't think I would like using a wash board and soap.

Dede I DIE when our dishwasher dies, our last one was hopeless and I DON'T do dishes!!! Needless to say, every time it went on the blink all the kids had to help with the "Dishwasher Appreciation Duties" though it was more me who whinged quietly about all the dishes and how long it took to clean up at night time lol

Oh no dede...scary but like jd says you will survive as annoying as that is!

Due to snow and illness we havebt had our cleaning lady or ironing lady (yes i know its not the same) but when your used to something you miss it when its gone or unavailable... You just need to get back into a pre whatever routine... Do feel for you with such a large family.. Our dishwasher died twice (came with the house) and dh repaired it by ordering parts online.. Good luck with whatever you decide to do

Dede look upon the dishwashing time as time to chat. That's what we do.

Dede, can you claim it on insurance as a motor burn out.

worth a try. Our customers claim pumps on insurance all the time.
sometimes with fluctuations in power, motors burn out.

I could try I guess Robyn. Never thought of that. I will give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks for that. Sometimes I forget that we have insurance. I guess it all depends on what they will cover. Will keep you posted.

I rang the insurance company today and they said if its a burnt out motor or pump etc then yes it is covered. So now I need a report and quote done on the dishwasher. Fingers crossed insurance will cover the cost. Yay. Thanks Robyn.

I think you will not have a problem. The only hiccup will be if your excess is high. Good luck.

My excess is only $100 and I'm guessing the repairs will cost more than that. So fingers crossed now that insurance covers the repairs.

And I love this forum cause it's not all about TMs and food, there is help everywhere for all sorts of different topics.

Thanks again Robyn, I really didn't even think about insurance till you mentioned it.

Lol Hally I would run out of cutlery and crockery after 2 days and may have an invasion of ants inside so better keep up with the cleaning duties for the time being.
