Sounds like you had fun dizzygirl!

I bought one of these today:

I'd like to try sous vide in the TMX. Just for quicker cooking things like salmon.

I don't cook with the sous vide method.  I guess I just can't get my mind around having food at what I consider a "dangerous" temp for a prolonged time.  Many folks I know prepare things that way and rave about them - the Sous Vide cooker was an extremely popular holiday gift last December, but I guess I'm just too old to re-channel my brain.

I do use my vacuum sealer a lot as I often buy meats in large bits, break them down into smaller portions so I can vac seal and freeze them.  Also nuts, spices, other ingredients that might be subject to deterioration without that protection.
I'm sure you will find it very handy for more than sous vide.

Hi thermo18,

Love my new slow cooker. Used it saturday for a lamb curry. Diced up forquarter meat (1kg) which I had marinated overnight, browned the meat, threw everything in, cooked on low for 7-8 hours perfect. The meat fell apart in your mouth & the whole dish was lovely & flavoursome.

Used it again yesterday to make a small curry 500g to put into pies, very very happy with this curry too.

I love the browning aspect, so glad I bought a large one too.

Hope this helps

H :)

Thank you Hally, this has helped I did read some reviews on the net which were good, but knowing someone bought one it's  even better I was looking at them on the weekend and loved the idea you can brown on the stove, and the size is good for a family of 3, the lamb curry sounds yum, guess I am going shopping today lol

Uni, a roast is so easy, just pre heat the oven, use a roasting pan, season the meat / veges, use olive oil and in it goes.

Roasts are my specialty (so DH says anyway)
Although I have trouble with roast beef as its easy to over do it and make it dry. Roast lamb and pork no problems ;)

One roast lamb + one oven bag(keeps roast moist and oven cleaner) + one oven at 160 = one very yummy meal.

One roast pork, score rind and spray with oil and sprinkle with a little salt + one oven tray and rack + one oven at 230 for first 30min, then turn down to 160 for remainder of the time = one pork roast with yummy crackle. ;D

I no longer do a roast. All my meat is cooked in the slow cooker. No oven to clean  ;)

I love the turbo cooker for roasts, much easier to clean than the oven :)
But depends on the size of the roast. I have had to use the oven lately with the big lamb roasts we have

dede, with 7 to cook for, you need a big oven.

We don't eat a huge portion of meat (to expensive for us all). Lots of veggies though :)
