Frozzie, I've found your mess - it's at my house!!
I walked in the door tonight after a busy week and almost walked back out again. My cleaner had a week off, I was sick last weekend with the cold I inherited from my kids and I've hardly been home.  I've managed to get the kitchen straight, and the rest can wait. School holidays have started yay!!!

ES if your cleaner had a week off you have her payment up your sleeve...offer half payment to your kids to do the cleaning...it could be just the incentive they need to earn some good pocket money. It willnotbe the same job as the cleaner does, but at least its at half rate

It's unusual for me to be on this thread - I never really seem to buy anything other than the usual, mundane weekly requirements.  Anyway yesterday we stumbled upon six highback oak upholstered dining chairs in (nearly) excellent condition from the Salvation Army, for $25.00 each!  They need a little work as they are a bit wobbly and re-upholstering at some stage as well, but they are fine as they are.  We are very happy with them as we had been looking for dining chairs for ages.

Dining chairs are difficult to find just what you want Marina so finding these is a windfall for you. A bit of TLC and you will have yourself a lovely set of chairs there by the sounds of it.

Apparently tortoise shell. They are from cat rescue.
That's my son, he was always bringing home strays when he was a kid and nothing has changed.
